@dkf I suspect we have vastly different definitions of "hot." I can't find the discussion a week or so ago about England "sweltering" in 26° heat, but it was 39° here on Saturday. But then I didn't have to work in it, just drive about 20 minutes (with the car windows open, so good air circulation) and walk maybe 50m. In a black, long-sleeve dress shirt and long-sleeve T-shirt under it, it was not bad, although it was borderline unpleasant when in the direct sun.

It's not just the definitions. I'm pasty-white British and I was quite happy working hard in Africa in 40+°C, most of the difference is the humidity. The UK is a soggy mess and that makes even 30°C a bit unbearable.
<I tried to find a clip of the BBC News reporter years ago unable to say humidity, "hummadiditty", but it doesn't seem to be online sadly>

Mine was too. Nothing like being late to work and having to spend half an hour in a closed space with 100 other people and 2 accordions.

Life Pro Tip: Don't drink a large dark roast coffee right before a hard workout. I had to drive home from the gym with the A/C blasting just so I could make it home without throwing up.

Of course, GW1 has 12-man instances that you can only take 7 heroes into for some reason.

Status Now has a set of python scripts that take a plain-text exam (with markup to indicate sections and groups of questions), randomize the questions/answers, output a LaTeX file, and build a pdf from that.
It works on my test input, so far. More testing is needed, but I think the basic framework is sound.

@stillwater way ahead of you there

Oh, yeah; I forgot to mention that. It was bone dry with a nice breeze, which makes a world of difference; the body's own cooling system works pretty efficiently under those conditions (as long as you're hydrated).

In the car, no. In theory, it has AC, but it hasn't worked for several years, and assorted environmental regulations concerning CFCs make it rather expensive to get it fixed. Inside, yes, too much AC; I could have used a sweater or light jacket over the two layers of long sleeves.

Yes, I include the place I work. Our forums are filled with much hate. (Every 2 weeks a beta is released. Every 4-6 weeks a GA is released. MUST NOT SLIP THE SCHEDULE!!!)edit: Oh, I should mention - this is a Win32/C++ add using MSI as the installer. Just to ensure maximum user annoyance.
-
@dcon I should see how often my company's releasing; we're theoretically "agile" now but other than knowing that, I've been out of the product development loop for years. I think it's something like a service pack twice a year, minor release once a year, but I'm not sure.
I don't think agile has to impact the release cycle, just the feature cycle. But I'm just as dubious of it as you are, I'm sure.

That'll do it.
Things like this (and inability to do security patching) are why I brought the hammer down in Group Policy: Idle timeout of 15 minutes for RDP sessions, timeout of 1 minute for disconnected sessions.

But you can choose to delay the feature updates... unless you're using the Windows 10 Home version, in which case you'll have to pay 145€ to get the rights to do so.
Ain't Windows nice?

HEY, GUESS WHAT. That's broken too.
All of those drop-downs are empty. I just reset this fucking thing.

I've done that locally. Or a cmd window open to the directory.

Fuck credit agencies.
-
@blakeyrat Congratulations on your one new credit card that you got an appropriate credit limit for, I guess?
-
@twelvebaud I don't even understand what they're bitching about.
Length of time revolving accounts have been established
Ok, I have a credit card I've had like... 8-9 years, and my mortgage from last October. I guess they're bitching that my mortgage (the one I'm in the process of refinancing right now) is too new?
Time since most recent account opening too short
October to June? And I'm refinancing based on recommendation from the mortgage company? Fuck off.
Too many accounts with balances
There are two. Two. And I pay off both each month like clockwork.
Proportion of balances to credit limits is too high on bank
So... huh? They're bitching that my credit limit is too high? Or maybe they think I'm using up too much of my credit limit? (I think the max I've ever charged was about $700 on a $15,000 limit.) I don't even know what this one means.
Revolving or other revolving accounts
Huh? Like... that they exist? I mean... isn't the entire point that you need revolving accounts to maintain a high credit score?
Inquiries impacted the credit score
Like... the inquiry I just got that this text comes from? Because before then there's only one from October. (EDIT: Unless the insurance company made one when they insured the condo contents, possibly...)
-
@blakeyrat
That said, if you have a good credit score (750+), the "key factors adversely affecting your score" section is pretty much useless, since your score isn't really being adversely effected by much of anything, so they just kind of pull all the little things together and throw them in there.Assuming your score doesn't fall into that category, then the factors mean roughly:
- Your average established duration of revolving credit lines (credit cards, including retailers like Kohls/Lowe's/etc) / home equity loans / personal signature loans) is shorter than desirable, and you have a new account -- red flags for trying to run your credit up in a hurry
- You have a higher than expected number of open accounts of all kinds (revolving as per above, plus student loans, medical bills, mortgage loans, 60 day same as cash gimmicks from appliance stores)
- You have a higher than expected % of your revolving credit limits utilized (you're carrying a high balance on your credit cards or other revolving credit lines) -- red flag for being overextended from a credit perspective
- You have a higher than average number of new credit lines opened (hard inquiries). If you haven't been opening new lines, this is a MAJOR red flag to go through the list of open credit lines in the rest of the account with a very fine toothed comb - has someone else stolen your identity?

I use a symmetrical mouse because, although I'm left-handed, I'm pretty ambidextrous, and I switch back and forth to minimize RSI. Actually, I use my crappy work mouse, which is not remotely ergonomic, mostly left-handed, and my kinda sorta ergonomic home mouse almost exclusively right-handed because using it left-handed doesn't really work very well with WASD-based game controls, so that's how I have my computer space set up, and it's not worth switching the whole environment around. Hmm, since at the moment I only use it right-handed, maybe I should get an ergonomic right-handed one; I need to replace it anyway, because the button switches are wearing out and bouncing very annoyingly.

How long did you wait at the ER to get a diagnostic, etc? Just curiosity about the system you have up there.

@polygeekery I'd imagine that near amputation of a digit would be considered fairly urgent, while a simple fracture would be less urgent and might result in a longer wait if the ER is busy.

Neither did I, until I started having RSI issues in my right wrist. Though because I swap the mouse back and forth, I don't change the button configuration; LMB is button 1, whichever hand I'm using.
