Partial generated HTML? With a tag applied to its own visible self? Splitting the content of attributes? It's almost like we're back on Discourse

@anotherusername can't really do much better with the constraints of "we have to parse HTML with regular expressions".
-
@ben_lubar Maybe you could replace the contents of the code block with its md5 hash, and then replace the hash back with it after you got done doing the rest of the markdown parsing stuff.

I was about to say you should do base64 because then you don't need to look it up in a table but then I realized that doing it that way has even more fun side effects

Applied this PR:
Users with non-default skins selected should be able to use the forum after they refresh.
Yes, thanks!
Not sure if that's merely treating the symptom, because I still can't open the dropdown menu on mobile, but at least the header doesn't look terrible...

non-default skins
So the white skin is the default? And other colors are non-default ...
-
@luhmann there are multiple white skins. The one named "Default" is default.

And all of them seem to break the site right now.

@tsaukpaetra
Are you saying choosing non-white default breaks stuff?

That's a thing of beauty. How do we ensure this survives various forum upgrades unmolested?
Do what we did on Discourse when we didn't have nested quotes.
Create the plug-in ourselves then have Jeff shit all over it in public?

- Updated nodebb-plugin-emoji version number to 2.1.0. Just the version number and nothing else.
- Fixed that tiny problem where jeffing posts out of the status thread to a new topic would load all 78,000+ post IDs 700+ times in a row on 50 of the 8 available processor cores and crash the server and corrupt the data structures. No big deal.
Update scheduled for 07:00 UTC.
- Edit: oh also it contains a fix for bookmarks that are past the end of a thread so I don't need to keep doing it manually every time
Can we have a special fix for certain users who lost the ability to open the hamburger menu on mobile?

I don't either, but however it did, it completely broke the appearance of the chat button too...

@Tsaukpaetra I'm seeing some weird stuff as well on Firefox for Android, version 51.
Basically the first time I open a tab, the whole site opens slowly until I get a toaster saying "Failed to load emoji metadata". When that happens I can navigate between Unread and topics but the menu is broken.
When I press refresh, the tab reloads immediately and 90% of the time it works OK. The other times I do an additional refresh and things tend to work afterwards.

can we just switch back to discourse
You should ask:
That's actually a good suggestion. I think @pie_flavor should go over to meta.d, create a thoughtful topic that explains that he's a member of the TDWTF community, and would like to know if we could please migrate back over to Discourse.
It'd be interesting to see how long it'd take for @pie_flavor's meta.d profile to be set as "not welcome here", or if he'd get anony-banned.

probably the only thing that is still true. And might I point out that all of the people using their forum bug tracker haven't gotten banned yet.
That's patently false. Most known members of TDWTF got banned for no good reason, and we were very active users.
Look at @boomzilla's meta.d profile as an example:
You can see all of the badges he got for participation, including:
Aficionado
Visited 100 daysGives Back
Has 100 liked posts and gave 100 likesGood Reply
Received 25 likes on a replyRespected
Received 2 likes on 100 postsand most important of all
Tester
Reported 10 bugs that were liked by the Discourse teamLooking at his profile, he certainly was an active member, and, in light of his badges, I think it's also fair to say that he was a valuable member of the community.
Now, look at his posting history. Can you see anything in there that is offensive, or ban worthy? No.
Why did he get banned then? That's a very good question.

To be fair, they delete a lot of posts over there. But still, my posting over there was very different from my posting over here.

- Added FontAwesome emoji that turn into little boxes when you copy them but should load a lot faster because they share resources with the font NodeBB already loads.
