Status: I did not just buy socks and underwear instead of doing laundry. A lot of my underwear is old and worn out and needed to be replaced, and half my socks have gone to ... wherever it is that they go when they disappear in the dryer. That I chose to replace them today is coincidence. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.
Yesterday I did my laundry. Next scheduled Laundry Event is on 12/16/17.
I'll leave it to your imaginations what that means.
Did you go back in time to 2012 and add extra months?

During the 20 min drive down the freeway, we got honked at at least 2-3 times by the drivers he cut off.
I wish my car was out of the shop already.

No fair, I was going to guess ;)

Can we all take a moment to appreciate that everyone in the world uses the same basic units of time (seconds, minutes, hours) and almost everyone uses the same calendar?
Time handling is hard, but it could be so much worse!

If it's not, it sounds like you might be in the shop (hospital) soon.

status Fingers don't want to type. The power in the building failed over the weekend and the heating system hasn't come back on yet. Jackets are required. So are gloves, but I don't have any here.
edit: Colleague just noted it's now warmer outside... hmm. Have laptop, can travel...

Visual Studio 2017 sure has a different definition of the word "simplified" than I do:
Looks like they've tried to incorporate all of those moronic ReSharper suggestions that I hate...
-
@blakeyrat I mean, it's slightly simplified.
Also, if you're unhappy with VS17, why not try Project Rider?
-
@pie_flavor said in The Official Status Thread:

Bullshit. The pre-edit version is super-easy to read and understand, the post-edit version sucks in comparison.
@pie_flavor said in The Official Status Thread:

Because I've never heard of it in my life?
(Googles it)
Oh good, a C# IDE written in fucking Java. What a joy you've exposed me to.

To you. I usually use Kotlin, which can do the same thing with the ?: operator, and I'm quite used to it by now and consider it cleaner than if-statements.

Yes, because the fucking language matters. Obviously. It hadn't even occurred to me since I started using it that it'd be an issue. The thing people generally catch onto is that it's a JetBrains product.

STATUS
While I was busy with my mettle, the situation with my car has deteriorated.
On Saturday, I've given the car mechanic 250 euros to have my fuel injectors fixed. I was expecting to have my car ready by the end of the day.
But no. Since then, it's been radio silence from this guy. Tried calling him after work, I am pretty sure he is ignoring / blocking my calls.
Not good.
I'll work from home tomorrow and see what's up.

Oh good, a C# IDE written in fucking Java. What a joy you've exposed me to.Even better. Underneath the surface beats the heart of your old friend, Resharper. They basically packaged the whole thing into a .NET library and hacked together some kind of an IPC bridge.
So you can have the best of both worlds - JAVA GUI powered by the resharper engine.

Doesn't JetBrains == Java ?
I mean, their IDEs usually are written in Java. So?
Unless you mean Java as in Java IDE, in which case no, they have one for each of Python, Ruby, PHP, JS/HTML, C/C++, Swift, C#, and Go.

According to , declaring a class twice should break things (AContextMenuVisuals is declared in ContextMenuVisuals.h, the A at the front is an Unreal thing).
-

No it shouldn't unless your compiler is deeply broken.

STATUS
Car mechanic was ignoring me the entire day yesterday. Turned off both cellphones when he saw it was me calling, not answering fixed phone, etc. That was after entire Saturday and Sunday without contact (I was hoping to be able to drive on Monday).
I call him this morning and he finally answers.
"Umm, I hurt my arm really bad. I went to doctor yesterday, I wasn't taking any calls. I am working on your car today, I swear. I'll call you as soon as I am done"
Mhm. I'll believe it when I see it.
I've left him with a fully working car, keys, full papers in the glove box and 250 euros for parts. As most indie car mechanics, he doesn't give back any receipts or anything like that. So all I got back was his word and reputation. In this situation, when I call to ask you about the status, unless you are unconscious, YOU PICK UP.

CONFESSION
Boss has tried to run his other big project without me (using Porno Guy and other contractor-like people) and it has turned into a huge clusterfuck.
And I am kind of glad, in a perverse way.

Got an e-mail recently about greater transparency in our communications.
Coworker: "Good morning, @heterodox; how are you?"
: "Sleep-deprived and belligerent; you need something, fly boy?"On reflection, that's probably not what they meant.

Status: Hey Starbucks, when I confirm my address, don't replace the part where I wrote my apartment number with "[redacted] Apts". That apartment number needs to be there for me to get mail.
-
@hungrier Why are you getting deliveries from Starbucks? You know you can make much nicer coffee pretty easily at home, right?
-
@jaloopa I can't make nice coffee at home when I'm at work and there's a Starbucks downstairs. The address is for them to send my fancy gold card, since I've bought enough coffee there to qualify for that status.

Finally got my car back.
Paid 200 euros for "hand", which seems too much for what amounts to removing fuel injectors and putting them back in (I get it, Mercedes A class is a bitch to work with, but still).
Of course, he did the usual song and dance of going through my log book and trying to make it seem like my old mechanics were all crooks.
Whatever dude. I get it you hurt your arm, but ignoring my calls after you are already late with delivery is inexcusable.
I might go to him again for quick fixes (since he is so close), but I don't think I'll be leaving my car again anytime soon.

@cartman82 200 euros is about $235 US.
Typical labor rates start at $100/hr and quickly go to $120. Sounds about right.
