Status: near the end of my first Mass Effect 3 playthrough. Should have bought those licenses back in 1...
-
@gąska Why? You wanted a different colored ending?
-
@magus I'm a completionist and a min-maxer. I hate being locked out of quest lines - even the most minor ones - but I didn't find the licenses useful enough to spend 0.1% of my funds on them. I didn't think they might be plot-related at any point in the game, much less in sequel-sequel.

Status: Attempting to figure out how to set up eclipse for Jenkins plugin project. Specifically, p4jenkins. Because I'm frickin' tired of the "Poll SCM" option screwing up the workspace that it's only supposed to be reading (for some reason, it redefines the workspace configuration when it's polling ). Oh, and also adding an option to stop checking in build logs when the "sync config files" option is used. Because nothing says "configuration" better than "log file".
Doing this in a Linux VM because I don't want to install Java on the host.
No idea where to start, all I got is a pom.xml file and a folder full of .java files (and some not-useful-to-set-up-project docs).
Ugh.

Have you tried IntelliJ?
I have on Windows, but not with a maven project, so I'm still creaking up a stream. I'll try it and see if anything more useful than "My screens don't look anything like the tutorial says they should" with eclipse...

IntelliJ Maven is far better than Eclipse Maven.
Actually, IntelliJ anything Java-related is far better than Eclipse anything Java-related.

Drunken Ace has finally changed photo on his corporate Skype account. It used to be just a photo of his legs, now it's one of those auto-generated mosaics composed of hundreds and hundreds of erotic photos.
I approve. You go, you crazy diamond.
In completely unrelated news, turns out while this guy can code OK, he's not a very reliable and self-motivated worker. Who'd have thought?
I recognize one of those images, it's by the photographer Jo Schwab. Good stuff. Also, obviously, NSFW.

@dreikin This sounds like someone from 4chan. Like that guy who recognized where a photoshopped bulge on an anime character originally came from.

Status: After hitting +Space for the umpteen zillionth time, I was beginning to wonder if there are tiny creatures living inside my keyboard, changing the language from US to US-INTL on purpose. Little did I know that Alt+Shift was also a keyboard shortcut to change language. Why the hell would they design it that way? I push Alt+Shift by accident at least three times a day, and on purpose at least nine. You should never have a keyboard shortcut, especially one with such an interrupting change like that, based on solely modifier keys without any anchor keys.

NFC how to check if this code works I guess except to package it, hope for the best as I shove it on a Jenkins install and pray.

The current crop does, yeah. The relevant one here isn't, though. I'll post it in NSFW.
Edit: Posted.

Well, at least it compiles.
This project isn't big enough to warrant that many warnings, WTF are they doing???

I have James Taylor going over the outdoor sprakers and I decide I want to hear "Sweet Caroline" ('Carolina on my mind' led me to it). It is good to know that some things are timeless.

I sang a verse of that at a high school concert a few years back.

Probably has nothing to do with recent advertising using the chorus line (forgot which ad though).

We don't do broadcast TV and pay extra for Hulu so there are no commercials. I had no idea, but you are probably correct.

I did as well. Sadly, it doesn't really say much, just "Here's the name of this thing, here is a list of things it depends on".

@rhywden I also LOVE that Google seems to have NO concept of "file.close()" or similar.
Because whenever I do anything in VisualStudio which even remotely accesses anything in the Android solution, I always run into some kind of "File / Folder still in use by shitty Android SDK".
Also: Their first Android X86 image ("Google API") for 8.0 does not start due to "bad offset with battery_goldfish", the second X86 image ("Google Play API") does not spit out errors and instead only displays a black screen forever and an ARM image is missing completely from the list of downloadable images.

Have a report of a hundred or so potential code vulnerabilities I have to audit to determine whether they're false positives or true positives. Least favorite part of my job considering the complexity of the system I'm auditing.
At least it isn't a report of tens of thousands, which is a memorable one I got last year.

L1 was decommissioned back in 2008-ish. It was a Compaq Presario V2000 laptop.
L2 was decommissioned in 2010, I don't remember what it was.
L3 was decommissioned in 2012, it was a Gateway M5 (I think) tablet.
L4 was decommissioned in 2014, it was a Lenovo Thinkpad X61 tablet.
L5 is in operation, it is a Sony Vaio Flip that I use as my daily driver/dev machine.Hmm. It's 2016. L5 has obviously been decommissioned now.
And it's still in operation, though I did do the SSD and memory upgrade.
I don't have any dev or office apps on it anymore though...

The Android Gradle plugin has its difficulties. Gradle as a tool, though, in general, is far superior. It's not a hard position to attain; SBT does it, Leiningen does it, etc. Code describing a build procedure is far better than a simple data format, as long as you can do the same basic things and extend it in the same basic ways. Even something like Cargo is better, because build.rs is invoked automatically, and is the 'build script' whereas Cargo.toml is a simple package definition and not extensible, contrasted with Maven where pom.xml is both the package definition and the build "script".

@rhywden Also, adding insult to injury, Microsoft added their own simulator to Visual Studio which I just installed. That one works fine but only has images up to 6.0
Their reason? "Well, we originally developed this simulator because the Google simulator was woefully inadequate. Since then they have caught up and thus the need for a competing solution became void."
Yeah. About that...

Why? What would've happened if you didn't?
Was that all just to have them tested and turn out to be not cancerous?
I wouldn't spend that much on one of our cats. If it's that sick, it's probably its time. They're getting old; I'm not paying that much to prolong one of their lives by maybe a year if we're lucky.
-
@anotherusername said in The Official Status Thread:

They keep growing junk fat until the skin bursts and gets infected and then it becomes a REAL health issue.
@anotherusername said in The Official Status Thread:

No; it was to remove the malfunctioning cells that thought they should be endlessly growing fat cells for no reason because biology is awful.

It's a pet. If keeping one of them alive for another year before it would probably die of old age anyway was going to cost that much, we'd keep her for as long as we could keep her reasonably comfortable, and then we'd take her to the vet and have her put to sleep.
