@greybeard this looks serious. If I were you, I would let them know they've got a wrong email address.
-
@gąska I did reply to the “disptacher”. I’ll post the follow-up later.

The follow-up:
My apologizes, Beth left so info out of her email

@greybeard this message suggests that they've already had emails from her in the past. Why would they think your address is correct and not the one in those previous mails? You didn't let any Beth use your computer, did you?
-
@gąska Mysterious are the habitudes of the profession of disptaching.

My apologizes. Beth no longer lives at this address. All email will be ignored and marked as spam (and/or publicly mocked on various forums).
Regards,
Me.

...aaand someone signed me up to OkCupid. What is it with sites that don't confirm email addresses?
-
@greybeard They get more subscribers?
-
@greybeard I think Beth is giving you some very overt hints

Status: Who the heck is Anne?
Granted, it is legit as far as I can tell, but... Did one of my personalities escape and do something again?
I'm (relatively) sure none of them were named Anne though...

Pretty sure one of mine is, but I'm fairly certain she hasn't gotten out and about.

@tsaukpaetra Anne Onymous?

Ugh. I just recently had someone try to attach my email address to an Instagram account called "notmasonwheeler". At this point I think someone's just trolling me... :(

I have a bit of a moral dilemma... some idiot used my gmail address as his backup security address on his new one.
This is the gmail address that I get loads of crap on due to the fact that one or perhaps several idiots out there think it's their own email address.
Please indicate in reply whether you think I should:
- try to change his password and lock him out of his new account, or
- be a good Samaritan and click the "Account Disavow" link at the bottom
-
@anotherusername Given the first is likely a federal felony, I'd go with option two.
-
@greybeard And for the accounts that said idiot registers which don't give an "account disavow" option?
-
@anotherusername I will decline to answer that without advice of counsel.
-
@anotherusername Given that you said 'moral dilemma' and not 'legal dilemma', I'd say option 1.
-
@anotherusername said in Popular Gmail-address:

How does that work?
I can't remember what my login is.
Was it rangnork?
{type type} Nope.
Then it must have been another username.
{type type} There we go.
-
@lorne-kates It's not "anotherusername"... it's my gmail address. I suspect that someone has "mygmailaddress@mail.com", and routinely instead puts my address, "mygmailaddress@gmail.com".
And honestly I don't know how multiple people could be making the same mistake, but occasionally the emails that arrive are tied to someone's real name and I think I've seen at least a couple of different names.
-
Not posting because it's someone's PII, but someone sent me (though I'm sure they meant someone else) a photo of their resume.
Yes, a photo of their (wrinkled paper) resume. No wooden table though.
Nothing else on the email either.
-
Someone used my e-mail to create a paypal account. There is no link there saying what to do if I didn't subscribe to it, so I just keep receiving e-mails asking me to activate or confirm my e-mail address with them, which I didn't.

Just keep on deleting the emails…

First I was thinking "guess who can expect a bad review when the relocating guy did not receive any support whatsoever", but then it hit me that it would also likely arrive in your inbox.
