On an unrelated note, people keep calling me cynical. No idea why.
On my review a year ago (before our new manager), I got dinged for that. "NO STOCK OPTIONS FOR YOU!"

I'd have a hard time getting out of Montreal in that time.
Damn traffic !!!

@da-Doctah True, but cows being so dumb is how they break out of pens all of the time.
Oh green grass... I want that.... why is there this pointy wire in my face.... mmmmm grass, but why does my face hurt?
The absolute best part is when they break back in, at some other place in the fence line. Because ohhh! green grass.
-
@boomzilla to be fair, the "logging out doesn't stop your phone from receiving push notifications" behavior would be pretty surprising if you weren't expecting or wanting the notifications. But it's quite handy when you are.

Crap! this can never work in the US:
The craft can carry a 220-pound passenger

I feel like there is a joke about dropping C?Os on top of terrorist training camps around here.

Pilotless drones, capable of carrying one passenger and a small suitcase
Helicopters. These are called helicopters.

Can that technically be called a helicopter? Normally, the rotors are on top, and there's a tail.

Not necessarily.
That helicopter has a tail. Its tail even has a rotor, like "regular" helicopters.

Those rotors really need to be shrouded for safety. The accidents that would happen if this went into wide-scale use in this condition would be quite gruesome.

Looks like a bomb delivery system to me...

Agreed. If you construct it right, you might even get a bit more lift (as you'd effectively have ducted fans, which IIUC are more efficient at creating thrust than unducted fans).

That's not fair. Some of the kids are lighter than that. Briefly.
-
@RaceProUK Also, why the hell would anybody put the rotors below the cabin (and thus likely center of gravity)? Intuitively, having them above would be more stable, and as an added bonus, would only decapitate tall people, instead of chopping up everybody from legs upward.

This reminds me of a story I heard on the radio this morning. Here's an article on the topic:
So they've upped the crash test dummies to 273 lbs, along with making them obese. But what about skinny people like me who weigh less than the old dummies? Who's going to make sure cars are safe for us? <\mockRant>
-
@abarker 273?!?
Wow. I've put on a bit more weight than I wanted to in the last few years, but I'm still over 100 pounds below that! :o
-
@masonwheeler Good lord. That sounds like me in middle school before I'd put on any fat.
-
@boomzilla Pics or it didn't happen. :P
-
@masonwheeler Just because I'm a software developer doesn't mean I've ever been a 90 pound weakling.

So am I. I'm 6' tall and 140 lbs. fully dressed and soaking wet.

-
@abarker I'm wondering if car manufacturers have also been increasing the length of seat belts, or whether they were just always much longer than necessary.
-
@Yamikuronue Interesting. I wonder how this works WRT the CAP theorem...

The Burger King Adult Meal is modeled after the concept of the toy-laden children's meal, but instead of the meal package coming with an innocent toy, the franchise in Israel has sauced it up with an "adult" toy.

I'm not sure I'd want to use an adult toy coming in a $3.99 meal.

Smartphone users looking at their phone will see the colour of the strip beneath their feet before stepping out into the road.
Doubt it. They'll still just see their phone. They gotta create an APP damnit! User gets near intersection and a big "STOP" pops up on the phone. (preferably reaches out and punches them)
-
@dcon And plays at maximum volume the following sentence:
Look where you're going you dumb shite!

Why? There is a perfectly good car that will explain to them quite succinctly why they should watch where they are going. There is no need to complicate matters.
-
@Dragoon Yeah, but then the police need to get involved, and probably an ambulance too, and that's a lot of paperwork that can be avoided by the phone simply screaming an embarrassing profanity for all to hear
