This apparently breaks EVERYTHING, include certain Google Chrome extensions that rely on google services, like Hangouts.
Great experience!
Edit: Yay dox. Also, realized that it was probably using the wrong account (that doesn't even have Hangouts set up on it )

Hey, guess what the recommended way to switch accounts in the extension is?
Guess what you can't do if you're signed into an account that hasn't been properly set up with Hangouts?

If that doesn't work, go down the line. The next step is always percussive maintenance. Always.

@Polygeekery I don't think the landlord would approve of me taking a hammer to the boiler.

Sorry for the spam but there's a great deal and it's only for 24 hours:
1TB of cloud backup space, for 1 year, only $5.95! Plus it includes a 3TB hard drive shipping.

I wouldn't trust my data to a $6/year backup.

When I checked a year ago, none of the major online backup solutions would guarantee not to lose your data. I suppose they wouldn't for fear of litigation, but damn, it's their business, innit?

If you have a free hour, Watch a Video.
If you're not sure if you want to watch it,
They reprogram Super Mario Bros 3 and Mega Man 1 and Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past to run Super Mario 64, Portal 1, and then Skype using only controller inputs.

It is pretty standard on the consumer end of things. My guess is that they have no redundancy on their end. Single copy in the data center. If you were to experience a data loss at the same time they did, it covers their ass in that unlikely event.
That is my WAG as a person who owns a business in the same vein except it is for businesses. I could not put that in any EULA that would be read.

Agreed. If it's that important, the cheapest is never the right option.

Which is also why I said I wouldn't trust a 1TB for $6/year backup. My hardware costs are $.08/GB on a three year amortization. So 1TB costs me $80. If they are selling at $6/TB then they have to average 93% deduplication to break even on just the hardware if their costs are even remotely like mine and they have no redundancy (we run N*2 on storage servers). That is also before you power the servers, pay for bandwidth and development costs, etc.
Of course, they are counting on almost no one storing at capacity, etc. There would be a lot of people who only store 20GB of family photos and such, but still.
I also wonder if they are doing any versioning. A backup that is not versioned is not a backup at all if you are hit with a crypto virus. If they are versioned, what is the retention policy and how is it billed? Is that 1TB only the most recent dataset or is it total footprint?
Lots of questions there, but no way I can see that they could make money in that first year.

They won't on the customers paying $6. They will on the customers who are paying full price, and the ones who pay $6 this year and continue to pay $60 next year because it's easier to pay than it is to shift 1TB elsewhere and save a few dollars.

I get that. But I also wouldn't trust my backups to someone who spends their marketing budget on powering servers in a data center.
Even $60/year is too slim a margin for me, but it can be done.

Yeah... that's kinda annoying. What's even more stupid is the Google services that will only recognize one account -- the one that was signed in first -- and to get them to recognize the correct Google account you have to sign out from all of them.

IME, a "boiler" heats water to boiling to make steam which is piped through things to heat them (e.g. living spaces). A "hot water heater" heats water to a much lower temperature for direct use -- bathing and washing clothes and dishes.

I wish the AGDQ staff would rein in the TASbot guys so that they're not constantly overrunning by 100% again their initial allowance, and putting the Saturday prime time 2 hours behind schedule every single marathon.Or, you know, they could cut out one or two other games earlier in the schedule and actually allot TASbot the 3 hours it consumes every time.

That was my impression as well. It's totally possible to do with a 15kbps controller inputs, right?

Status**:** I believe the problem is that I got logged out due to timeout. But you can't tell from refreshing the page or anything.

@Polygeekery Well, they're usually around $50/year, which is on par with Backblaze. And they have "business plans" which are 10 times more expensive, which I assume is how they actually make (or try to make) their money. And I've kept 450GB on them for a year now and they haven't lost it yet.
I admit a company giving a 90% discount out of nowhere is kinda suspicious though.
