Why the hell is Excel so slow to paste in formatted text copied from a web browser? What could it possibly be doing for those 10-15 seconds?
And why is it still that slow when you change the paste options to switch it back to plain text, or paste directly in as plain text?
-
@Jaloopa said in The Official Status Thread:

Because it is trying to interpret it as a spreadsheet, which it does whenever it thinks it is interpreting some content that might contain a spreadsheet. Like HTML because HTML is always about tables! The fix is to paste into a text editor and cut-n-paste onwards from there.

Wanna have some fun?
Right click -> Format cell.

Menu shows.
Why? Because Excel is BRAVELY forging forward with CUTTING EDGE interface and presentation, providing a rich, deep experience across all devices.

I didn't set the

at all (it's nowDouble
).

.Net validators? Because they are both the best thing to ever happen-- and have some of the most annoying quirks.

Since I last used Google Maps to plan a route, Google as BRAVELY and BOLDLY permanently removed the feature that allows you to save the route.
But at least I can still see Grumpy Cat?
-
@Lorne-Kates ... I don't remember that feature, but couldn't you just copy the link and save that?

@anotherusername said in The Official Status Thread:

I could, but that's fucking stupid and annoying. Oh boy, now I have an Excel file with a whole bunch of contextless hyperlinks. Let me just start clicking on them to see if they still work. Assuming they don't expire after X days.
It used to be you could set up a custom route, and save it to your My Google or whatever fuckstupidbullshit they called it. Then you'd open "Places" and oh look there's all your routes.
It existed at least in 2010, when I was planning my honeymoon vacation around the East Coast.
I just started to use Google Maps to sketch out the cross-country trip I'll be taking this summer. But hey, I guess Google doesn't want me to give them a whole bunch of free data, so-- {shrug}.
Bing Maps maybe? :/

IIRC they just moved it.
I had to go to the Hamburger menu (which, contrary to other web design, is in the top left), then "Your places", then "Maps", then whatever I saved the route under.
Or you could just go there directly, though it's hard to find out that you just add a "d" at the end of the normal Maps url:

Nope, turns out I sure can't (do what I wanted to do), at least for a year or so.

It's okay. It's a .xls document. No one knows how to open those anymore.

Should use .ods - even less people know how to open those.

And then a new option at the far bottom of the screen to create a new one.
And then I have to start all over again because the route I had made is in Google Maps and not Google Maps D.
Instead of having a button that says "Save as Map".
Fucking google fucking fuckoolglell.

I would suggest .123, but you'd probably be arrested just for using Lotus software.

@RaceProUK I reckon .123 is more popular than .ods
