Edit: Also, if we're talking about old music the way you're talking about it, then "old shit music" is largely an oxymoron. I mean, anything from the classic rock era is pure gold, IMO, with only a few exceptions.
Two words: Mr Moonlight. Or another two words: Doctor Roberts. Or another two words: The Trial (or is does it not qualify as classical rock era? But surely Several Spiecies of Small Furry Animals Gathered Together in a Cave and Grooving with a Pict does.)
Or Firth of the Fifth?
I mean, it's nice you like classical rock era, but don't exaggerate. Or I'll make you listen to My Generation (the album) all day long and you'll have to change your mind.

@Polygeekery Load and Reload are the best two Metallica albums.
Unless you count S&M. In which case they're #2 and #3.
Unless you count Garage Inc, because Metallica is way better at covering other people's material than they are at actual original content, in which case S&M is 1, Garage is 2, and Load/Reload are 3/4.Case in point:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kgqDtU8BXf0
(Related: BOC's Imaginos is the best album in the history of albums, Astronomy is the best track on that album, and the Metallica version of it is the definitive performance of the track. The only reason it isn't the top track in the history of tracks is because it's fucking Metallica and they cannot be allowed to hold such a prestigious title, even on my personal lists.)https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=boanuwUMNNQ
Also, fuck Metallica.

If this isn't a guilty pleasure, I don't know what is:

I'm abstaining from this thread because, as much as I don't like some of you, I don't hate anyone here enough to subject you to Vengaboys in yet another thread...
You lucky bastards.

I'd say OK computer, because it's overproduced as shit, but man are these some great melodies they managed to get there. And I know it's just teenage depression and angst. Still, it always gets me.
I think Paranoid Android is the one I feel the most guilty of, cause of the sheer predictability and that its so obvious they just wanted to fill it with as many hooks as possible, not really caring for the overall coherence. Still, I like it SOOOO much.

Oh, and Nirvana. Although these are just four or five songs played again and again, just a bit differently, I really like it from time to time. Most of all when driving. It's my GOTO driving music. :D
Still, these aren't old. These are all from the 90s.

I have to wonder where Fred Durst is at now.
Flip a coin. Heads, he’s probably in the Crimea:
Damn, it doesn’t onebox an anchor like good old Discourse used to. You want to read the bit about his Personal Life.

I see we've given up on the "you like" part of the thread title, so it's time to pull this gem out of the archives:

I didn't listen, but from the title I can probably figure it out...
You simply must listen. It's a delight :D
You see, at its core, the song is simply about love... The kind you clean up with a mop and bucket
So if you like the kind of stuff that Prince would sing about, or if you want something fun to listen to while you're getting up an hour early due to daylight savings time, or just something to put on in the background while you're sinking Battleships, give it a listen. Siskel and Ebert gave it two thumbs up!

Here's another 90s track I really loved:

I think being associated with that shit Godzilla movie kind of ruined its popular appeal, you hardly ever hear it. Great track though.

And when someone complains that music today is too superficial and back in the days the lyrics were so deep and meaningful:

And nowadays the only thing children watch is youtubers playing Minecraft, so anything other than that is for old people.
My wife and I actually make a big effort to expose our kids to "old" stuff. In my day, having only a handful of stations you always got tons of old movies and TV shows that were the only thing on for large portions of weekends and afternoons and etc.
My daughter has decided that she doesn't like 80's John Hughes style movies. "Too stressful" or something. We cannot figure out she's talking about.

@anonymous234 Those lyrics are genius compared to:

I had a great time one summer watching and making fun of all the original Buck Rogers and Flash Gordon shorts that some local station here used to fill-up time between like 2:00 and 4:00 PM. My mom would just break out laughing and laughing whenever one of the (male, natch) said, "good girl!" to the (one, natch) female character, like you'd compliment a dog that brought you a frisbee.
Sigh.
There was this golden age after cable came along but before things moved online where there were tons of channels that had tons of hours of the day where advertising was essentially utterly worthless, so they'd just show... whatever. Turner networks used to show those awful Sandy Frank imported kaiju movies, I saw all of the Gamera films before I'd even heard of MST3K. Old serials, like the ones I mentioned, Three Stooges everywhere, the company behind Nickelodeon ran a whole channel full of 1950s sitcoms, most of which hold up VERY well. (My favorite was Dennis the Menace. IIRC they used to have a policy to show only black-and-white episodes, when they went color, even 1960s color, it all kind of went to hell.) Those were the days.

Hey Jude has tons of quality lyrics. The "nanana" part is just a tiny portion.
It's a fool who plays it cool by making the world a little colder.

It's actually way more clear in that live recording than it is on the studio recording.

@The_Quiet_One
A coworker showed me this site a few months ago
http://polygraph.cool/history/It is an interesting listen, and there is some truly awful music in it.

@JazzyJosh The Japanese themesong was different for every season, but everyone knows the first one best, which contains lyrics like 'i know you'll fly on the wings of my love' - a much better song all around, but not as... branded? Since chanting the name of the show in the opening is probably a good way to keep it in kids' heads.
Anyway, the rap is kind of hilarious, and only exists because '90s, and pokemon had one. They redid the whole soundtrack in English, some of which is good, but most of it is awful. And they did the typical 'dubbed anime' thing where there can be no breaks in dialog, so even what should be silent moments are filled with bad jokes and pointless details.
It's really strange honestly. I don't know why it all ended up like that.

Some years ago a guy I had to work with called some ’90s hiphop (as I recall, Blackstreet) “old skool.” The only thing I could say was, “Old skool? It’s not like you’re talking about the Sugar Hill Gang …”
Yeah, um no.
Kurtis Blow, Run-DMC (I always sign my initials as KMC because my last name is Mc)., Kool Moe Dee, Whodini, LL Cool J, Eric B and Rakeem, Big Daddy Kane, EPMD, BDP, Public Enemy, De La Soul, etc, etc.
I've seen a number of these them in concert.

While enjoyable, I would call it barely adolescent compared to Prince's seduction capabilities and talent. But I guess that is why this is the "Old shit music..." thread and not the "Music to get you in the mood" thread (I was debating how explicit I was going to describe that--I error-ed on the side of less explicit).
