@Zerosquare No, Razer would have made an LED axle. This is an incandescent axle.

RE: Tales from Coronavee-rooss Italy, mamma mia!
My city is supposedly a week after the "peak," whatever that meant. Now our case rate has gone from 1 - 2 new cases per day to about 100 new cases per day. The death count isn't changing though.

Status: What's with this current trend of making all training materials and tutorials only available in video format? That's so inefficient for those of us who read at faster than snail speeds. Plus having to seek back and forth. Text > video unless it's showing how to do some specific technique on a physical object.
I accidentally hit a wrong keyboard button in some application that put it in a weird mode that I couldn't use. I couldn't figure out how to revert it. I couldn't find any online keyboard shortcut guide, and the only thing I found was a 20-minute video of some guy explaining all the shortcuts. I had to watch a 20-minute video all the way through to find the 3-second section where he explained the key combo I needed to get back to "normal" mode. I wanted to bash my face into my desk until death, and then beat him and the application's vendor to death with my corpse.

RE: Nope
@Zecc I thought that was a feathered bird tail, not the leaves of a pineapple. I was pretty horrified for a few seconds.

I'm pretty sure a sedentary lifestyle due to the lockdown doesn't lead to a sudden, dramatic increase in blood clots. That would be a gradual, long-term change.
I developed a blood clot in only 10 days after my lower leg was immobilized after a surgery. The doctor said it's fairly common and happens quickly in people who are used to being very active who suddenly become sedentary. (I was fairly active even when "immobilized" but I had whole muscle groups I couldn't move and that's where the clot happened.)

Took a trip to my sister's house in a neighboring state for the weekend, to help her cut down a bunch of overgrown bushes and shrubs in her yard. I am really not a fan of other drivers. They seem to think coronavirus is a perfectly acceptable excuse for everyone to drive 100 - 120 mph even in town.

RE: The Cooking Thread
A mouse found my bag of flour. That cabinet looked like a big bag of cocaine exploded inside it.

RE: In other news today...
Gas prices are in free-fall. Diesel fuel is still $2.50/gallon, though. But I guess that's okay because I'm not driving anywhere.

RE: WTF Bites
Got a knock on my door. Went to check, and nobody was there. Then my phone showed me an Amazon notification for a delivery failure because nobody was home. Normally they just leave the box at the door, and this driver must have left in the 8 seconds it takes to get to my door from my computer.

RE: 🎤 Song of the day 👂
YouTube keeps recommending a band called Burning Witches to me. Lots of comments calling them "Judas Priestess." I think I'm in love with the dark-haired guitarist.

@Zerosquare Wow. They've come a long ways if they now have enough flash to store an OS. I was always running into flash limits with the ones I used (which were admittedly super-cheap, something like $7).

RE: Tales from Coronavee-rooss Italy, mamma mia!
@boomzilla Grand Island is so far away from us they might as well be in Hawaii. Even if we had a state lockdown, almost everybody west of Lincoln would have ignored it, because that's just how this state works. The two cities do their own thing, and the rest of the state does their own thing.
As I recall, Grand Island is sort of a major stop on the I-80 drug smuggling routes. I wonder if that factors into this somehow...

RE: Tales from Coronavee-rooss Italy, mamma mia!
Yep, we're flat. 1 - 2 cases trickling in per day over the last week, and yesterday was the first day for 0 new cases, at least for Omaha/Douglas County. Meanwhile, the MSM is still raging that our governor hasn't implemented an official stay-at-home order.
EDIT: Today's final numbers, for a metro area with a million people in a non-lockdown (at least officially, but in practical terms yes we're locked down) state: 259 confirmed cases, 7 deaths.

Blockchain exists to take up everyone's hard disk space with massive pointless duplications of everything. Now you can put a blockchain on PingFS and take up everyone's network bandwidth in the same way.

@HardwareGeek I recently upgraded to a 14-port hub on this laptop because my previous hub was full (I use the hub like a dock to transform the laptop into a desktop with mostly just one connection). It's the same brand as the previous one, but this one just seems flaky. Besides the flash drive issue, my mouse likes to not work until I've unplugged/reconnected it a few times. It's a powered hub, too, and it's certainly not a power issue because these things work just fine if I connect them to a 4-port unpowered hub that's plugged into the flaky one.
I hate computers.
And I found a workaround. If I plug the flash drive into the 14-port hub, then power-cycle the hub, it will detect the drive when it powers back up.

RE: Tales from Coronavee-rooss Italy, mamma mia!
Looks like my county's going flat, we're only seeing 1 - 2 new cases per day and we're by the far the most populous area in the state. Also, the antibody tests would be very interesting to me because despite 100% isolation, I've been sick twice during all of this. Cold/flu-like symptoms that only lasted for a day.

I only got one mask printed off before my new hotend plugged up. The old hotend is still soaking in acetone.

@blek It doesn't make sense to me. "It's not safe to have more than 10 people in the store! So let's have everyone stand right next to each other for three hours just outside the door! It's safer that way!"

@Polygeekery It's a Wanhao i3 with a Micro Swiss all-steel hotend. My TPU print temp is 235 C.

RE: Today in Blakeyrat is always several years behind in every tech trend news...
So my hotend looked like a 600-pound bacon addict's arteries, which is why it kept stopping extrusion. Any wide spots in the filament failed to feed through. So I disassembled everything and I'm soaking parts in acetone and baking parts in the oven to get everything to melt out. I also ordered a complete spare hotend with the idea that I can just swap parts out and keep printing while cleaning up the other.

@mott555 If I use "practice mode", it puts you against bots. And my weapons actually kill them! I thought they nerfed the railgun, but no, it just doesn't work in online play because netcode. It works fine otherwise.

RE: WTF Bites
@mott555 I had full health, full armor, completely overcharged by pickups. Enemy sucks down 5 of my rockets, which counted as hits on my client because I got the "honk" noise, then he cut me down with a 0.3-second burst from the machinegun which is the weakest weapon in the game.
