@bulb 0-based month numbers is retarded. This is an abolute non-negotiable fact.
@G?ska This makes me think people may be right about some OSS developers being intentionally hostile to it's users.
@Luhmann I keep clicking on that signature's arrow
@anonymous234 said in Paid, closed-source software on Linux? Shockingly not an UTTER failure!:
The big question here is: if you believe in commercial software so much, why are you developing a free open-source OS? Do you believe it works for one but not the other?
Not all Linux users are GPL extremists

In Germany, anyone can vote regardless of imprisonment or not. This "banned from voting for life" is not exactly an example of a shining beacon of democracy.
But can you be elected president if you're in a jail in germany? (we have someone leading the polls from inside the jail here, that's democracy for you)
@boomzilla @izzion reading about blood pressure and mouse reminded me of this: https://imgur.com/gallery/G0yLqBL

@sockpuppet7 Kinda related, what problems do you see with implementing a kick as a 0-time ban?
It didn't even work as a kick. The first time it was unnoticed, then the mod (I think it was @ben_lubar) had to kill the active session or something. They he used a longer ban.
There was also a bug where a banned user could still upvote/downvote posts if the mod didn't kill his session.
I think NodeBB devs didn't give much attention to banning. Huge difference with discodevs that love this part of foruming.
I want the new rules to be enough to get @blakeyrat posting his rants again.

I'm not some government agency cowering in fear at using version LAST_YEAR in CURRENT_YEAR.
Enjoy your inevitable worm once support ends, then.
You'd be surprised how much less likely that is when you steer clear of CP. If only more agency executives, state senators, and football coaches knew that...
What's CP?
Computer programs. You avoid them and you don't get computer worms.
I'd like to have my own button too. I don't even care what it would do.

100% coverage I suspect you've done evil things to get code to bend it into that
What year will come sooner, the year of linux on desktop or when ipv6 overtake ipv4?
A few years ago would you believe that duke nukem forever would be released before ipv6 take off?

such a critical system is obviously never updated without thorough testing
unless it's a hotfix, so we spend the entire year using hotfixes to ship new features

The good thing about Corona is, that a lot of meetings at work are now cancelled since they are "not essential". Makes me wonder they were planned in the first place.
But I now finally have time to get things done.
Ha, our office is so crowded we actually are less exposed to viruses when we're at a meeting room
