I shall endeavor to like all the posts. I shall undoubtably fail, but I shall try valiantly.

"The user name or password is incorrect. Try again." -- Try what? Username? Or password? Or both? Don't you fucking know which one is wrong?
"Incorrect username. Password is correct"

I kinda want to make a bot that automatically closes a topic after x number of posts and creates a new one, linking the two to each other.
Who's with me?!??!?!?!

@TimeBandit I call bullshit. This Apple Watch feature has several alarms asking you whether you're okay or not. Only when you don't snooze all of them then emergency services are notified.
Plus, if you're under 65 the service is opt-in.
Oh Siri asked if he needed help. She heard "Oh yeah" and well

RE: IRS awards multimillion-dollar fraud-prevention contract to Equifax
Also worth noting...
"In the wake of one of the most massive data breaches in a decade, it’s irresponsible for the IRS to turn over millions in taxpayer dollars to a company that has yet to offer a succinct answer on how at least 145 million Americans had personally identifiable information exposed," Senate Finance Chairman Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) told POLITICO in a statement.
The committee's ranking member, Sen. Ron Wyden (D-Ore.), piled on: "The Finance Committee will be looking into why Equifax was the only company to apply for and be rewarded with this. I will continue to take every measure possible to prevent taxpayer data from being compromised as this arrangement moves forward.”
When you get a Utah Republican and a Oregon Democrat both coming after you... you fucked up somewhere

I don't remember if it was already the case back then, but AdBlock Plus lets ads thru if the advertiser pays them.
not.. entirely true (only applies to users with 10 million+ "impressions"), and there are requirements beyond just paying them, but that program started in 2011

RE: Scam Atlas
@GOG I've always gotten the impression they weren't even "incompetent", more of "entirely incapable of making a finished game product, while spending immense amounts of time on what amounts to a technical demo"

RE: Nobody shares knowledge better than this
@SpectateSwamp What does it say about people when they post loaded questions on signs in PUBLIC?

RE: Scam the Scammers?
@HardwareGeek You also get desktop notifications in every open tab which makes having multiple tabs open an extremely obnoxious experience...

The stereotype is that Americans don't care about Important Cultural Knowledge like "Where is Vienna?"
FWIW, it's in northern Virginia.
Also Lima (pronounced Lie-mah) is in Ohio.
As is Russia (pronounced roosh-uh)
And Versailles (ver-sails)
London (London, hey look they got that one right!)
And a whole bunch of other ones

RE: The Official Status Thread
STATUS: Something is awry with disk I/O.
"This PC" refuses to load, infinitely sitting with the loading bar.
Steam locks up completely on load, requiring 2 (two) "Cancel all I/O" commands via process hacker to unfreeze.
Various I/O related tasks lock up infinitely.
And, best of all, it's confirmed to have nothing to do with the physical hardware, as it works fine on a bootable disk and for just normal usage.
