RE: Even More DiscoMD5 Nonsense
Yes. The client cooks for the preview window, and when the user clicks Reply the client's cooked post is displayed. A few Discoseconds later, the server's cooked post replaces the client's cooked post. 99% of the time they are the same and you wouldn't notice, but every once in a while you could see your post change. The Discodevs claimed that they use the same code to cook on both ends, but after we called , they admitted that the server does more filtering/sanitizing/whatever.

RE: :wtf: How can this be so wrong??? (AKA the Discopocalypse thread)
What part of "Your application is a giant unmaintainable mess of MacGyver spaghetti" did not understand?
He did understand. In fact, this is the second time this week he's argued that the unmaintainable mess is intentional:
- No one can understand the source code, so no one will write exploits, spam bots, etc.
- No one can optimize Discourse for scale, so can make money.

You're on mobile? Yeah, that's different.
I was thinking stuff like this:
Also, I work in the middle of nowhere. While technically there's two mobile carriers here, only one of them has any 4G coverage worth a damn, so it might as well be a monopoly.

Status: Finished a book about king Leopold's Belgium Congo and the (in all things but name) genocide that took place there for a period of decades. Disgusting.
Wondering if the Belgium people who post here know anything about that bit of their own history, the book makes the claim that it's not taught in Belgium schools?
This forum has ruined my reading comprehension. I had to read this several times before I realized you were actually using the name of the country.

RE: Is "deploying to Docker containers" now a thing?
@lucas1 said in Is "deploying to Docker containers" now a thing?:
@RaceProUK To be honest, if people are using Node on Windows i would just tell them to install Visual Studio as it is simpler than fucking around with the SDK.
Whether they install the SDK or the full VS, they're still stuck installing a bunch of crap they'll never use. Likewise with
build-essentials
if you really think about it. I don't think there's a point in bitching about it, just install the bloated tools and get back to work.What I want to know is why the hell a nodejs package needs a C++ compiler! I thought the "js" in "Node.js" stood for javascript. This is one of my biggest complaints about open-sourcey projects, eventually someone will insist on using their own special snowflake process with their favorite pet language and fuck up everyone else. Like StarOffice, which advertised itself as being written in C++, requiring you to install the JVM. (Or compiling the entire Go standard library into a node module just to replace

Nice conflict resolution Discourse!
It will only get worse with this thread, I think...
ABUSE EVERYTHING!
I can only like your post once.
Well this thread isn't going to be confusing at all, is it now?
I have to re-read every post a few times to understand what everyone is saying. Should become impossible to keep up in about three minutes...
Also I can't like posts more than once what is this madness
...oh fuck I'm not going to get quote notifications either, except the first time someone replies to me...
Forty years of darkness! Earthquakes, volcanoes! The dead rising from the grave! Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together... mass hysteria!
Now I wish I'd got the first or second post, CBA with all this scrolling up and down...
SucK it, Trebek!
Had to click OK 6 times to get back to the forum...
I wikified everything I found here.
NNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just don't remember what episode it's from.
Episode?
I really forgot that that is where the quote is from
Surprised you admitted the mistake instead of deleting it with an edit. Would that be against the rules of the thread, @sloosecannon?
Oh yeah, @sloosecannon is totally not gonna get notified...
Actually believe it or not I did
I'm guessing you could get a reply, quote, mention, and edit notification once from each user...
Interesting that @boomzilla's wikification stopped it getting deleted.
Did you forget the rules, @loopback0?
Unfortunately I don't think it's still alive......
Maybe not? I got a mention notification.

@dse said in White Toast:
Like <ins> and <del> colors are not legible
That's not NodeBB or the theme's fault, that's our custom CSS:
.topic .posts .content del, .composer .preview del { background-color: #FDD; border-color: #F1C0C0; } .topic .posts .content ins, .composer .preview ins { background-color: #DBFFDB; border-color: #C1E9C1; }
It's changing the background color but not the text color. Maybe @ben_lubar can fix that...

RE: Trump Phishing
@blek said in Trump Phishing:
Weren't they actually part of Gawker?
Yes, Gizmodo was part of Gawker's blog network. After the Hulk Hogan lawsuit, Gawker (the blog) was shut down, and Gawker (the company) was renamed Gizmodo Media Group. IIRC no one from Gawker (the blog) was let go, most now write for one of the other blogs in the network (mostly Gizmodo).
