RE: Is Raspbian child abuse?
@boomzilla I have found KDE to be much like using Windows. Pretty much everything I tried just worked. It was also the most stable DE I had tried (Unity crashed every 5 minutes, and GNOME had all sorts of weird issues [but no crashes, oddly]. LXDE works, but is kind of minimal, and had a few mouse bugs [which are fixed, AFAIK]. I haven't looked at any other DEs yet).

RE: In other news today...
@boomzilla Apparently that's the second time that's happened. Wow.

RE: FUCKING HELL WHY DOES NVIDIA UNINSTALL MY DRIVER WHEN I LEAVE MY COMPUTER RUNNING
The update should fix this, as @Tsaukpaetra mentioned in the WTF Bites thread (and it is a major WTF as to the fact that this can actually happen in the first place!).
-
RE: NVidia Version Schema
My next computer is going to have an AMD card, mostly due to all the shit I've had to put up with while using NVidia.
-
RE: Firefox Quantum WTF Of The Day
@tsaukpaetra Also, WTF? That's.... interesting.

RE: In other news today...
The guy who threatened to rat them out should be investigated, as he seems to be hiding something.

RE: Lenovo's are shitty garbage
@darkmatter My Asus ROG laptop's keyboard is pretty much identical to a normal keyboard. It even has a number pad!
The thing is pretty massive as well, but it's actually not as heavy as it looks. It costs about $2500 though (I got mine through Amazon on sale and with a bunch of credits due to a prior pricing error on another order, so it cost me about $1000).

RE: WTF Bites
@zecc So TV steals keyboard input even when the window is not active? That a major WTF. Devs that make programs do that need to have their developer licenses revoked unless there's a good reason for it to happen (e.g. AutoHotKey).

RE: Android Oreo
We have a place called DeBrand down the road from us, they do absolutely AMAZING chocolate. They also do Ice Cream and some other things.
They are expensive, though.
The place so close to us is actually their main factory and offices as well. They even do tours!

RE: WTF Bites
@cursorkeys I posted that here quite some time ago as its own thread.

RE: WTF Bites
I have been seeing that as well. It is usually caused by a faulty graphics driver.

RE: Thank you Mr. Obvious
@dangeruss There's an unnecessary comma after the word 'this' in the first line.

RE: Our customers open five emails for every one we send
@raceprouk Lol.
Maths is hard.

RE: "The Machine Fired Me"
I would say that the manager that missed the deadline should be fired for this snafu. It seems he is somewhat incompetent.

RE: Exception handling is hard
@dkf Like the following example (from https://www.codeproject.com/Feature/WeirdAndWonderful.aspx?msg=4327314#xx4327314xx)
byte[] arySend = FetchCommand(cmd.CHANGE_THE_ACTIVE_DISPLAY); int iScreen = this.cboDisplayName.SelectedIndex; iScreen = iScreen < 8 ? iScreen + 1 : (7 < iScreen && iScreen < 10 ? iScreen + 4 : (10 == iScreen ? iScreen + 5 : (11 == iScreen ? iScreen + 10 : (11 < iScreen && iScreen < 16 ? iScreen + 12 : (15 < iScreen && iScreen < 20 ? iScreen + 24 : (19 < iScreen && iScreen < 22 ? iScreen + 45 : (22 == iScreen ? iScreen + 53 : (23 == iScreen ? iScreen + 57 : (23 < iScreen && iScreen < 26 ? iScreen + 65 : (25 < iScreen && iScreen < 28 ? iScreen + 72 : (27 < iScreen && iScreen < 30 ? iScreen + 152 : (30 == iScreen ? iScreen + 160 : (30 < iScreen && iScreen < 33 ? iScreen + 169 : (33 == iScreen ? iScreen + 170 : (34 == iScreen ? iScreen + 171 : (35 == iScreen ? iScreen + 175 : (35 < iScreen && iScreen < 41 ? iScreen + 176 : (41 == iScreen ? iScreen + 203 : (42 == iScreen ? iScreen + 208 : iScreen = iScreen + 212 ))))))))))))))))))); // 43 == iScreen arySend[2] = Convert.ToByte(iScreen); arySend[3] = 0x01; // Refresh screen

RE: God’s own OS
@scholrlea I went ahead a look TD up, and wow, what a lunatic.

RE: what your superpower it is
Mine would be transmogrification.
And yes, I'm a furry. Although I can't draw worth a flip. I can't even draw stick figures. They end up being stick blobs.

RE: I built a thing
@accalia The Mono framework is available on at least some distros for the Raspberry Pi.

RE: Parsing Colors
@pie_flavor I'm currently trying to figure out which mod causes severe lag in various 3x3 chunk areas, where any other chunk is lag free. It's seriously annoying.
-
RE: Parsing Colors
@pie_flavor My current main pack has 242 mods in it. I also have an Immersive Engineering centric pack (no other tech mods) with 198 mods.
And damn, FF has a very out of date English spell check dictionary. It is missing a good chunk of common words.

RE: Octopus Deploy (and overly flat designs in general)
@blakeyrat said in Octopus Deploy (and overly flat designs in general):
active shooter in YouTube headquarters
I was completely unaware of that. Wow.
And back on topic, that UI is horrible.

RE: In other news today...
I think the council members need to have their heads examined.

RE: Discord I'm not actually in a server....
For a while I wasn't able to post to any Discord servers, through any means (Browser or Desktop app). A couple of days ago I loaded a minidump created when the issue occurred in WinDbg, and discovered that the issue was caused by the AsusTek Update Application. Uninstalling that fixed Discord.
I honestly have no idea how an updater completely unrelated to Discord broke the site, but it did.
Asus makes good hardware, but their software is mostly shit.
