Of course,
vertical-align
is giving me issues, so on Chromium, it looks like this:
-
I... will probably change the icon... and get rid of the sagginess.
-
@julianlam
Or maybe just make the icons get progressively saggier the older the posts get

-
@cvi Hm... an hourglass icon?
-
@julianlam Well, yes, that was the intention. I was just trying to stick to the overall boob-inspired theme. (Alas, not an artist.)
-
I'm not really happy with the default FA hourglass... look like a 90 degree rotated bow tie.
Of course, now I am reflecting on the fact that nobody has used an hourglass for the past 50 years. Much like using to indicate saving to disk...
Edit: Hell, even the phrase "saving to disk"... it's not even a disk anymore, it's a rectangular stick of memory we call a disk.

And when did you last use a looking glass to search through an entire library? Or binoculars to look through a single file?
I like the hourglass better than the clock.

Sounds like something fa_spin could solve ...

@julianlam It might take a while before we see these changes. Our most active admin quit his job a while ago...

This is very important work that should be taken seriously!

Prefer the to alignment issues aside.

I misread the title and heard it sung as:
"Let's hear it for the boob" in the style of Deniece Williams

Actually? Yes, this is partly why I posted it here. I get a lot of rapid, no holds barred, feedback from this community.
I'm also torn about whether the clock or hourglass looks better.

The hourglass is more difficult to make fun of, so stick with the
boobclock.Or maybe a digital clock display?
... although segmented displays are likely only slightly more recognizable than hourglasses these days.

@cvi fuck it, nobody even wears watches anymore, why don't I put an iPhone in there instead?
That's what the kids use to tell time nowadays isn't it...
-
@julianlam But what if I have an Android phone? Surely you should inspect the user agent and adjust accordingly.

@Deadfast best to aim for the lowest common denominator and put in a Zune

Make all those options configurable

IANEE, or I'd draw a circuit diagram for a time delay between the top and bottom lines.

At least have the decency to make it a triple boob:
If we're actually trying to be "helpful" (or at least focus less on the boobies), skipping the icon in the middle might not be a bad idea. Just use an uninterrupted line between temporally close posts, and interrupt/break the line when there is a jump in time. Much like a broken axis in a plot.

No. (I wear a fitbit flex - the waterproof one with one 5 leds on it. Before that, I hadn't worn a watch for at least 20 years)

Actually, this makes a lot of sense. I was thinking of adding "events" in the timeline for things like poll closures, pins, etc., but a "time between posts" thinger isn't really an event, per se, and so a broken line actually does communicate fairly succinctly what it is: a break in the conversation.

I am taking offense at that. I have an hourglass (3 on the same frame, actually) on my kitchen top and I use them quite a lot to keep track of how long stuff has been cooking.
That's typically when I think "I'll let this cook for 3-4 min., no more, but while that's cooking I can do something else", and the "something else" easily turns out to take more than that. Of course for most cooking I can check whether the time is right in other ways, but the hourglass is visible from across the kitchen without having to stop whatever else I'm doing.
Any kind of timer would do but what I like with the hourglass is that I can turn it over even with e.g. greasy hands without touching it too much.
