Things that remind you of WDTWTF members

Reading/listening to a story, and this passage instantly reminded me of someone:
Dave is a bit of a [dick], and will embarrass you in public. He isn't a bad person, he's kind and will help people if they ask nicely, but he has no 'brain-to-mouth' filter. His motto might as well be, "Hold my beer!" (Punctuation errors in original)

Edit: the Twitter embedding is broken again. Must be the full moon.

Was it unbroken? I didn't think so; did it get fixed while I wasn't looking? Everything I've seen recently (that I remember) that looked like an embed was just an uploaded screenshot.
-
@Zerosquare said in Things that remind you of WDTWTF members:
Probably not unrelated at all, this is the same type of pictures I got when my graphics card died a few months ago.

Yes. For a while it would do nothing. You'd just see the raw URL. Then it was working. Now you only get the "So-and-so on Twitter" displayed. Since we haven't changed iframely (which handles embedding stuff like that) the likely culprit seems to be Twitter themselves.

This isn't the , so I'll simply agree wholeheartedly and move on.

I disagree with this, rather violently, and am also moving on.

When they find them, most of us will realize we saw the signs all along. My advice is, it takes all kinds to fill an unmarked mass grave.

@Zerosquare I can't believe you spent half a million dollars just to post this.

@GuyWhoKilledBear if you give me this meme as an NFT, you can have the sanity point back you lost from reading this post. Or, 1Q, but I'd have to get one.

I'll take it in Q, because there's a certain forum member that I want to make jealous.
My first instinct is to convert it to an NFT using GuyWhoKilledBearCoin, which has a very secure blockchain (it's an excel spreadsheet on my desktop) and a super easy onboarding process (I type your username onto the spreadsheet).
If you want to use a coin that's less alt than that, let me know.
Is anyone willing to outbid @Gribnit?
-
@GuyWhoKilledBear if you want it in Q I need it on their blockchain. I'll give you back sanity for the Excel impl.

I think I still got a few million (or whatever) of that, but like those people who've ostensible lost millions of dollars in encrypted bitcoin wallets, I neither remember my password not username. Nor their website.

@Zerosquare I didn't realize that was a real picture. I thought she had just been photoshopped into the fire picture. TIL...

@Zerosquare said in Things that remind you of WDTWTF members:
What the fuck does that even mean?!
So, like, she decided to make a ton of money by giving someone a token number so they can claim “I own that meme now, LOL”? What are they going to do with it? In what world does this make sense? And as is the case with many NFT sales, the Roths also retain the copyright to the image and will make 10 percent off any future sales of the NFT.
So it’s not even the copyright but literally just a number somebody pulled out of their ass?

Like any other art, it's a way to hide wealth.

You mean money laundering?
How does that work if you only spend the money on garbage but don’t get it back?

One man's garbage is another man's society altering use of blockchain to drive forward the frontiers of finance.

More like tax avoidance / evasion.
How does that work if you only spend the money on garbage but don’t get it back?
They might donate it, which gives them massive tax advantages. They might sell it later on. I dunno all the ins and outs. I'm not wealthy enough. But I'm pretty sure that's a big draw.

At first, I read that as "they might detonate it".

@BernieTheBernie That reminds me of our holiday on Corse where we encountered what we later learned to be a herd of wild cows.

Is the thing that makes these posts topical the fact that you’re @obeselymorbid-ing the Dilbert archives?

Witnesses reported observing a woman, later identified as Gail J. Metwally, 47 of Elkton, setting multiple fires within the home and then sitting in a chair on the front lawn, where she watched the fire engulf the home.
