@Carnage said in Things that remind you of WDTWTF members:
I've had a chat with Korpiklaani backstage, they also qualify for the drunk AF finnish polka performers.
That's cool, I like them. Not seen them live, though. The one group I have had a backstage chat with is Adolphson & Falk which is cool in that my dad had Adolphson as a colleague for a few years, and he remembered my dad even after 30+ years. Also a group that was so ahead of their time with their lyrics and it's a shame most people nowadays only know one of their songs.

I worked with artist service for a few years, so I've had close renovera with a few bands. Korpiklaani were really nice guys, so much so that I still remember them as the most regular people (for being Finns ) i met while doing that.
Most bands aren't bad, they just don't care much about the people doing the servicing. Much like how everyone regards the cashiers at the store.

Yeah, it's a shame they only sing in Swedish so all of you unwashed barbarians can't understand the glory of their lyrics.
Didn't know them, but after listening to a few of their songs, I fully concur with the above statement.

In my teens, I went into a feminist meeting with a stereo and played Quinna. They got very upset at me.

So, to all you people that do not speak the language of the gods and are wondering why that particular song would upset feminists, here it is translated to english:

Not that big a fan of the Norwegians if I'm to be honest. The Finnish on the other hand...

It all depends on which gods you are talking about.

@Arantor That could be the TDWTF theme song:
I'm not looking for solutions,
Just for someone to admit,
This is shit, this is shit, this is shit.

@HardwareGeek that’s why it’s here in this thread.

I'm going to need to red-card you for being on topic. 👮♀️
-
@Tsaukpaetra well, that also reminds me of WDTWTF members, so that would be a red card for you too.

Stop giving them ideas - big fridge might be listing.
That said being able to open a fridge 117 times a month seems generous for 2023. That includes the possibility for three meals a day and snacks on most days.

-
@Mason_Wheeler It's okay, you can start a reminds you of DogsB thread. I wouldn't have retracted that one though.

My banking app knows us.

@Mason_Wheeler missed an opportunity for an autocarrot pun at the end.
-
@remi they tried but autocorrect kicked in.

At this point, I'm not sure if she's
a little bit snarkyone of us, or just calmly describing the current state of affairs. It all blends in together.

@topspin the recent antimatter engine video gets even better. Paraphrased: poor little Bobby will be procrastinating on writing his essay on antimatter engines until the last day, then panic will settle in, "oh no, what do I write, I know nothing about it", he'll google up the topic, find this HowStuffWorks article and copy big chunks of it without understanding it. The next day the teacher will read his essay, see this jumbled up mess that doesn't make a lick of sense, he'll have no other option but to call his parents. Your son doesn't have a grasp of English language, he can write words but they don't make any sense together. I'm sorry but we must keep him in the same grade for another year, we cannot push him forward if he can't write, it'll only make things worse for Bobby. That's how bad this article is!

Scientists in the United Kingdom have pinpointed a physiological response from hearing someone mangle the English grammar in a new study.
Maybe they should have used correct grammar in the new study.
-
@DogsB Wait ... I can cause physical distress in pendants just by grammaring slightly incorrectly?
This is great news. Game changing really.
I need to find me those samples and print the worst of them on a t-shirt. (I really hope that it isn't just speech.)
-
I can't find a link right now, but I remember reading about a study that birds did notice and were angered by bad grammar (in that case, I think researchers did use recordings of birds songs that had been altered by removing, duplicating, or moving around certain sections).
Another study about birds and grammar:

@boomzilla I'm sure that with the success of Baldurs Gate 3 that there's lots of Rule 34 mindflayer art out there. But I wasn't expecting to see it here.

It is at least not obviously made of something that would rust, so possibly, possibly not depending on your outlook.
