a = b ? c : d ? e : f ? g : h ;

@PleegWat Sure, sometimes they're formatted sensibly. Sometimes, not so much.

Much more beautifuller that way.

@ixvedeusi If only that worked so well with real code instead of metasyntactic variables.

Sounds like a skill issue for not IFDEFing all your conditions to b, c, d, etc...

I envy you. You've been away from C land long enough to forget which preprocessor directive does what.

Imagine thinking I was ever in C land

@izzion you're too competent to be fully JS your whole life, so by necessity, you had to descend into C (or worse, C-compatible ABI) territory for at least few minutes at some point in your career, because that's what needed sometimes unless you're fully JS. Also, you are aware of the word "ifdef".

All C# or JS/HTML/PHP for me
And a little foray into a C++ LOB application that had some FORTRAN on the side, but I didn't work in that any more than I absolutely had to and I don't talk about that stint any more

@izzion and never a single P/Invoke?

The only P I ever invoke is in the men's room after I get back from my Dr. Pepper liquid lunch.

@izzion now I really envy you.

The famous P envy

I did C for 15 years and I've never heard of P/Invoke
Linux FTW.

He's talking about C#. It's their term for FFI.

You can have P envy in any .нет language, but yes.

I'm planning to swap to linux phone once they actually get to a daily driver phone level, and then I will nuke all my google accounts, including the gmail account I've had for 18 or so years. Because fuck Google.
-
@Carnage it’s certainly time I move off to a paid mail account. It’s not the that’s stopping me, but the hassle.
Fake edit: I fixed the typo before posting, but for your all amusement, I think “zhat” sounded comically German.

DesktopPhoneYeah, I've been waiting for quite a while for a working Linux phone now. And I'm not holding my breath, not holding it to the point of considering getting a feature phone.

Just like chickens.
I think Mythbusters did that one back in the day...

Same thing here. I'd like to have a smartphone that:
a) doesn't involve selling your soul to companies like Apple or Google, and
b) whose usability reaches at least "reasonable" instead of "barely working proof-of-concept".I don't even care if it runs on Linux or not (I don't particularly like Linux, anyways).
I have an old ZTE Open C running on Firefox OS, that I bought second-hand for a few bucks. It's basically unusable ; even dialing a number doesn't work reliably. And Firefox OS is long dead.

Already done, but sadly abandoned
-
@TimeBandit I had one of those back in the day. Wasn't exactly jank-free, but I still miss it.
-
@TimeBandit Some of the developers moved on to this:
I used it as a daily driver for 8 years right until I had to switch mobile providers (and somehow the phone doesn't support it).
