TL;DW: even one year after launch and with a stable gigabit fiber connection, Stadia features input lag, audio and video stuttering, worse-looking graphics than other platorms, random crashes and disconnections, and a limited game library you can't search in.
Anybody wanna bet on when that thing gets cancelled by Google?

They ought to track down those OnLive guys from a decade ago so they can more efficiently reinvent square wheels.
-
And waste a perfectly good example of NIH syndrome? That's not the Google way.

They aren't gonna cancel it until they've gotten it working.

@Zerosquare If that is what Doom2016 plays like on Stadia I do not even want to know what a ragefest Sekiro is on that platform.

Should be. It plays differently from Soulsborne games, though, as parrying is essential. It pretty much goes for the style of "the first strike is also the last strike".

@error not that scary.

A sad love song that's very popular in Poland, especially among those who Americans would call Gen X. One verse is about a man whose fiancee cheated on him with an entire bus of Arabs (direct quote, I kid you not). There exists at least one parody where they chose to interpret the ambiguous grammar as if she had sex with the bus itself.

Depends on which you'd rather have cut off

I might be off, but in general: in 1970s and 1980s Eastern Block, "Arabs" were the prototype of "ultra-rich foreigner". Everyone from top party/government elites down to last street... ehm... worker... were happy to get some sweet sweet petro-dollars. To the point that the government/police actually did tolerate such transactions, despite them being illegal. And organized semi-official visit en masse, hence the "bus" part. And the petro-Arabs were, generally, happy to come and spend them.
There was, actually, somewhat similar trope called "Helmut in Mercedes". The main difference being that it was more solitary thing ( Mercedes did/does manufacture buses too, but nobody knew that).

@boomzilla Any kind of login to Google services is failing. Guess what's been killed by Google this time…
-
@boomzilla All of Google is fucked atm. I can't work since we use Google for must stuff.
-
@Atazhaia That's not true, their status page works so that you can find that nothing else does

I made the mistake of logging out. I have KOrganizer keeping an eye on my google calendar. I started getting popups telling me that it couldn't find any items on the calendar to delete. Like...several popups per second. Completely overwhelmed the window manager. I could move the mouse but it had no effect on anything.
Had to do a three second power button reboot. I killed
korgac
(the daemon for KOrganizer) after restarting.
-
@boomzilla Seems obvious it was your KOrganizer that has overloaded Google.
Maybe it will come up again now you've killed it.
-
@Zecc it's back up now so looks like you were correct!

Stop acting like you're on Windows (unless you run KOrganizer on it).
CTRL-ALT-F1 will open a console. Login and killkorgac

Follow-up to "das fünfte Stadium":
Just the week prior, Google Stadia vice president and general manager Phil Harrison sent an email to staff lauding the “great progress” its studios had made so far.
“[Stadia Games and Entertainment] has made great progress building a diverse and talented team and establishing a strong lineup of Stadia exclusive games,” Harrison’s January 27 email read
Harrison expressed his regret over the miSLeADInG statEMentS made in his previous email, according to four sources with knowledge of the call. When asked what changed from the week prior, Harrison admitted nothing had and told those on the call, “We knew.”
They just want an explanation from leadership. If you started this studio and hired a hundred or so of these people, no one starts that just for it to go away in a year or so, right?
It pays to pay attention...
Now, remaining Stadia employees have to pick up the pieces while wondering how they can trust leadership and how anybody can trust Stadia.

@Applied-Mediocrity Everyday it sounds more like Google is an epically shit place to work at. Or make business with.
