DOJ gets a subpoena over an emoji
-
I can't even really excerpt it. The article is filled with too much stupid.
Bottom line: A guy who was under investigation by the FBI for assaulting Kurt Eichenwald with a tweet (seriously) tweeted a :D at Popehat who was commenting on his case and that caused the DOJ to subpoena Twitter for all of their user information. 30 seconds of Googling would uncover that Popehat is a former US Attorney and they already have all of that information. Others are being caught up in the dragnet.
-
In fact, Popehat himself has already commented on this:

@e4tmyl33t And so did TechDirt (there's a link in the Popehat blog post).

...you mean the link to the same article that I linked in the OP? That one?
-
@polygeekery It's circular linking. :D
-
@polygeekery I really need to catch up on sleep.
-
@e4tmyl33t ...well then...I need to get TechDirt to link to Popehat and we can keep this shit going all day.
-
@polygeekery
No, Who's on First. Link is saving Hyrule.

Your wish is Mike's command:
Also, it looks like the reason the DOJ is after him this time is that he found out that Beaglesoft Cloud was so bright and sunny anyone could get information on any patient from their anonymous FTP server. Oh, and he was creeping on the FBI Special Agent who, for no apparent reason besides a passionate love of dentistry, stole all his stuff and broke most of it.
-
It's weird. I read this thread that's about something I knew nothing about. And now I feel like I know less after reading it than I did before I started. How the fucking fuck does that work?
-
@steve_the_cynic the circumstances are just that stupid.
-
@polygeekery Hm, I was wondering why "Eaglesoft" rang a bell.

Not much has changed since 2004. Eaglesoft is still total rubbish. So is Dentrix and EasyDental.

From what I know (and I know some people in the field), all medical practice software (EMR, dental, whatever) is total rubbish. Must be a law of nature or something.

Following the same law as educational software?

Don't remind me. I fight with my LMS and my online gradebook/attendance software daily. And neither one is free--we pay big bucks for something that's tables all the way down.

Heh. My current one that I have the misfortune to use is nested iframes (to securely mediate, by design, of course). Which is a step up from the last one, which was nested iframes and Flash.

No, that's just regular frames.
