They include Chrome OS in the list, but shoved Linux in the "Any other Operating System
Because the desktop share for non chromeOS Linux is a rounding error?
Wait, you run ChromeOS on a desktop? Isn't the entire point of a Chromebook that it's portable and can easily be replaced?
I used to run Lime on my desktop-replacement laptop. Should look to see if that project is still going...
Oh, that's another point - I'm pretty sure you can't run ChromeOS on a desktop because ChromeOS is the Google-branded version of ChromiumOS and each Chromebook model has its own build of ChromeOS.
There was a project that actually made a generalized build, but I can't remember the name anymore...
That would be a generalized build of ChromiumOS, not ChromeOS.

Ah. Well, basically the same for most intents and purposes.

Well, I did say most.

I don't run ChromeOS at all, because it's a bit shit.
but when you're talking about operating systems, it doesn't make sense to distinguish between desktop and laptop. There's no Mac OS Macbook edition

Ah, but there is iOS and it's definitely not in any way compatible with any other MacOS App.

What, no Redox?

@tsaukpaetra Smoke signals, flag semaphore, PCM radiotelegraph, signal mirrors, and two tin cans connected by string.

*scoffs\ we're more civilized than that! Two Crystal cans with an entangled core!

At that point you might as well include:
- TempleOS (I'd still love to see what would happen if Terry and @SpectateSwamp were posting in the same thread at the same time, that would be one hell of a conversation to watch develop)
- Google Fuchsia
- AsteroidOS
- Plan 9 From Bell Labs
- HURD
- ReactOS
- Mynewt
- eCos
- Menuet/Kolibri
- Haiku
- ArOS/MorphOS
- AtheOS/Syllable
- Cosmos
- xv6
- Zephyr
- Bluebottle
- CapROS
- Phantom OS
- BareMetal
- SharpOS
- ToaruOS
Kethermove along folks, nothing to see here...
Links included just to show I wasn't making shit up (well, except for Kether, though I don't know if it counts as making it up if I haven't actually, y'know, made any of it yet...). There are quite a few more free operating systems listed on Wicked-Pedo, these are just the ones which could, in theory, actually be being used by someone today (again, except for the last one).
EDIT: Oops, missed Redox, thanks @pie_flavor. Note that I could have easily mined the OSDev forums and wiki and tripled the size of that list, but most of the named OSes there are in about the same state Kether is. Yay bikeshedding!
-
@scholrlea most of those aren't Linux, though

I'd pay to watch.
