Nodebb vs discourse showdown

My bad. Still why would people want posts sorted by votes? And why is there no mechanism to sort topics by votes? Is it because the votes don't bubble up to the topic level?
Yes, votes are stored by post. Given this is WEBSCALE there's not really any easy way to query votes by topic.
-
Would it be by total upvotes on the topic or just on the OP? Because I'd think the latter wouldn't be that hard to do

I thought @ben_lubar fixed that?

What would that even represent?
It means too many people think fake internetpointzzz mean anything at all.

I'd call that a science project. Also, at this point all he's done is wrap a NoSQL DB inside a SQL DB. He hasn't pulled all of the data apart into an actual schema like you'd expect to find there.

Probably a better science project than most of the projects I used to see in the Science Fair when my kids were in middle school. (That's not a high bar. Did he spell his name right? )

@blakeyrat What, you mean to tell me all my e-peen is worthless? I'm shocked!
(INB4: "I thought you wanted e-vaj instead.")
Filed Under: Where can I go to check the e-peen to USD exchange rate?

I... think this is built in? @ben_lubar?

- Sort posts by most votes
Again, doable but requires weird nosql-fu beyond my ken.
I saw that, but what if the user wants it even smaller? There's no user control as how big the image should be.

Wouldn't it be possible to have a votes counter in the topic as well and update it every time? Or is that not webscaly enough?
Plus can't you sum up all the votes in a topic by adding up all the individual upvotes?
Having said that, I think the # of upvotes for the OP may suffice.

Sure. It's just not in the software as it currently exists.

Of course. And doing stuff like that is going to be really web scale.

Perhaps what is needed (at least on this site, dunno about others) is a separate category for polls. We could it the Trolling Station.
Filed Under: or maybe The Trolling Booth.

Notice all the pejorative nicknames for Discourse I've used in this post? All of those and worse were thrown around at that time.
How could you leave out "Discurse?"
I always liked Discourge better because it suggests a larger disaster area.

Cause that could never get out of sync.
