Say... is that a watercolor painting? Watercolors are kind of associated with primary school arts classes around here.
Many great artists have worked in watercolors, from Paleolithic cave painters through Egyptian and medieval European manuscript illustrators, to painters such as Albrecht Dūrer, Anthony van Dyke, Thomas Gainsborough, John James Audubon, John Singer Sargent, Winslow Homer, Eugène Delacroix, Paul Cézanne, Andrew Wyeth, and many others have worked extensively in watercolors. Many more have used them for preliminary sketches for eventual oil paintings.

Canvas, for sure, full HD version is there if anyone else wants to analyze it.
I have no desire to analyze that any more closely than I already have (not much), but if it's canvas, it's probably not watercolor. It's possible to paint watercolor on canvas, but not common; watercolor paintings are almost always on paper.

And then a public school system starts using watercolors in arts class for children aged 10-12, giving them the reputation of cheap-and-cheerful beginners' toys. Not helped by the supermarkets that sell watercolors in the toy aisle.
Same thing happened to Fipple flute and, to a lesser degree, to kantele.
-
@acrow Well, the point is that they're safer for children. It's much more difficult to make an enormous mess or get an emergency room visit with watercolor paints.

I am slightly bothered by @Lorne-Kates 's's avatar's lack of transparency.
Here's one with transparency:

@Gribnit: I've meant to make a slightly more professionally-edited version for you, but finally got around to it:
Let's hope the JPEG artefacts don't reinforce each other too much.

@kazitor Thanks! I am is replace. You win the internet if I get Alfred E. Neumann.
-
@Gribnit No problem :)
-
@kazitor I did not get Alfred E Neumann but this probably scales better.

@levicki
Sorry if the antennae look stupid, I'm not a photoshop expert and they got cut off so I had to redraw them...
-

-
@Tsaukpaetra @kazitor can you do something about this, please? It’s mostly the mismatch that gets me.
-
-
@Tsaukpaetra I’m surprised that that’s what you came up with for Boner.

You don't recognize breasts? Perhaps I used the wrong font...

@Tsaukpaetra Thanks for the suggestion.
Well, I used to be a biologist, so I'd prefer some kind of avatar fitting both the world of biology and software. What about Graphosoma italicum?
@topspin That's not a mismatch now, is it?

@Zecc I believe we have a bad jokes/puns thread for this.
It's horrible. I love it!

Can we ask to be considered for new avatar ideas? Mine is a bit outdated ...

I'm thinking of changing my avatar. Something that says I'm a cranky old man that should be ignored. Sadly I lack the imagination.

Is that a sneaky jab at me? I’m cranky but not that old!

Maybe it would be clearer if the cloud depicted "could have"

That head looks a little cold.
If only it had some sort of hat to keep it warm....

You said, and i quote:

Try again
Therefore trying the action again was a perfectly reasonable, nay expected, course of action!

@Vixen Overruled. "Try again" as commonly used in colloquial language implies "with a different attempt."
