@Boner quoted in The Word of the Day Thread:
An overripe peach could be described as tumescent, swollen and bursting with juice.
It's not normally peaches, that are swollen and bursting with juice, that that word is usually associated with.

@Karla is Zamboni a real word? I suspect it is like XEROX which is also not a real word!

I'm no expert but as per Wikipedia it looks as if it is a company name, named after the inventor of the machine.
So, no.

@boomzilla fuck you. I've just lost an excuse for misinterpreting statements that contain the word "volition"!
-
@Gąska You have taken that risk of your own volition by reading a mention in this thread.
-
@PleegWat if we're to understand volition the same way it was used in the quoted topic, I didn't.

Graupel (German pronunciation: [ˈɡʁaʊpəl]; Enɡlish: [ˈgɹaʊpəl]), also called soft hail or snow pellets,[1] is precipitation that forms when supercooled water droplets are collected and freeze on falling snowflakes, forming 2–5 mm (0.08–0.20 in) balls of rime. The term graupel comes from the German language.
Graupel is distinct from hail, small hail and ice pellets: the World Meteorological Organization defines small hail as snow pellets encapsulated by ice, a precipitation halfway between snow pellets and hail. Small hail is common in thunderstorms, while graupel typically falls in winter storms.[2] The METAR code for graupel is GS.
-
@boomzilla I was once in a thunderstorm while backpacking in Yosemite and experienced precipitation that I was told at the time was graupel. According to Wikipedia, though, it was more likely small hail. However, neither description seems quite right; it was like a snow pellet at one end and solid ice at the other, rather than being encapsulated in the ice. I'm not a meteorologist.
