@Luhmann Consider the strandzesdaagse. 120 kilometers of sandy beach on foot in 6 days, from Hoek van Holland to Den Helder. Carry your own camping gear.
-
-
@Luhmann Quite so. And I don't see myself attempting the Nijmeegse vierdaagse either - sure, you get to walk on paved roads, and it's only four days. But 50 km a day? No thanks.

@kazitor wind doesn't travel in two directions at once.
But it can change direction. On one of my bike tours I had a strong headwind. I consoled myself with the thought that on the way back this would become a tail wind.
Alas, the wind me and shifted by 180°.
-
@PleegWat
So you are more for the Dodentocht then? 100km in one go.
-
Got hyped up for a 50km ride today:
km 35: flat tire, walk 30mins to a local bike shop to get the tube swapped
km 35.1: pouring rain
km 42: leg completely locks up because i was not smart and didn't bring food with me, ended up limping back home (thankfully I was planning on doing a couple of laps near my neighbourhood to top off the remaining distance so I wasn't too far away)
lesson learned I guess, bring snacks on longer rides. the 45min break when I got my tube replaced also probably contributed to it, because I felt totally gassed after I got back on the bike
-
Did a good amount of walking around searching for virtual monsters.
Pretty sure some people are considering having me committed.
-
@bb36e
Water, food and a spare inner tire are a bikers essentials
-
@Luhmann
4 bikers essentials: water, food, a tube, a pump (or co2 bomb) and a toolset
-
Gearing up for a ride with my daughter. Hope to make 30km mostly off-road.
Got water, food, tools and 2 tubes because of the different wheel sizes.
-
@Luhmann Remember to bring a pump as well. And essential tools.
-
@PleegWat
Got those, otherwise a spare inner tube is useless.
-
@PleegWat
Don't forget water or you will get dehydrated.

Nah, just get the towing package add-on and bring along a trailer.
-
@Tsaukpaetra
That only works if you already have the motorized construction kit equipped

@PleegWat
Because you need those for biking!

Went on a run during lunch brake. First run in a decade I think. Managed 4km with only 2 short brakes.

I noticed you like your brakes, Hope they don't break...

@cabrito
The important thing is that he managed to brake before he ran headlong into a wall or an oncoming car.

-
@Tsaukpaetra
Give me a brake already!
-
@Luhmann How are you doing all that braking if you don't have any brakes yet. Maybe you should go buy a brake in your break?
-
@PleegWat
I don't work on Wednesday ... so no brake today.
-
@Luhmann
Wait, I didn’t realize you were French
-
@izzion
Obviously not since I didn't strike or run around with a hi-vis vest

@izzion
My weekly goal is 40km. Did 16km with my 10y old today. Stopped after an A-frame to guide her over the obstacle since it was the first time we took that track. Got yelled at because she already cleared it.

@bb36e Nice ride. I've probably ridden many of the same streets, 25 years ago when I was fit enough to ride that far and lived in this area. (I was fit enough to ride that far as recently as 10 years ago, but lived further south at the time. I'm back in this area now, but would be hard pressed to ride even 5 km.) I probably would have chosen either the Baylands Trail for a nice, flat ride, or headed into the hills above 280. OTOH, I was crazy enough to ride ECR all the way to Menlo Park once.
You passed within a few hundred feet of my daughter when you rode by Stanford Shopping Center; she works in one of the many shops there, and she was at work today. You didn't go quite far enough east to get to my apartment, though.

ride ECR
That sounds terrifying…then again maybe 10 years ago the roads weren't as bad. I was surprised that even in Atherton, the roads are still horrible. I guess no matter if you're rich or poor, roads in CA will always be awful
-
@bb36e Not the most relaxing ride I've ever been on, to be sure. I don't doubt it's gotten worse since then.
OTOH, scary describes a commute many years ago. I used to ride Central Expressway to San Tomas Expressway and up San Tomas/Montague to Zanker, most of which wasn't too bad. (Except the headwind riding home in the evening. Ugh.) However, there was one section that was definitely a bit nerve-wracking — the San Tomas/Montague interchange with 101. The traffic merging on and off 101 wasn't really expecting or looking for bikes.

@bb36e you literally bicycled past my house. neat.

Done did bought me a fitbit today.
I recently visited with my doctor and due to other things he recommended I occasionally check my resting heart rate. He said:
"For about $15 you can get a pulse-oxi meter off Amazon, or if you just want to piss money away you could get a FitBit."
And yes, this is one of the reasons he is my doctor.

Nor regulate ginger beer.

Then hook the trailer behind your vehicle because bicycling sucks.

@Tsaukpaetra I think we found the discrepancy in the data.
