Have we reached peak covfefe yet?
-
@Rhywden
I've got a covfever. And the only cure is more covbell.

@Mikael_Svahnberg covfefe baby covfefe!
-
@boomzilla oh, now you've taken a pristine word, a beautiful word, and sullied it with your filthy imagination. SAD!
-
@Mikael_Svahnberg I'm just arguing in favor of covfefe independence. Why rely on foreign covfefe when we have plenty right here?

Make American Covfefe Great Again.
-
Make American Covfefe Great Again.
After all, covfefe is truly an American invention.
-
It would actually be entertaining if it was a slang term he and some friends use.
Anyway, now that it's on every shirt and mug and building in the known world, I guess we can truly say this guy really does have the best words.
-
@Magus He has the most infamous words, but that's a lot different to the best words.
-
@Arantor What exactly makes a word better than everyone having it in their head and wanting to say it all the time, exactly?
-
@Magus having a meaning, having a purpose, evoking an actual reaction or feeling that isn't borne out of a performing monkey banging some syllables together.
-
@Arantor Sounds like it's well on the way to replacing 'coffee' - but even if it doesn't, most major brands with a single word name don't get meaning from the name. Sure, Nike may have been a god, but that isn't what people who hear the word think of first.
Words are interesting like that.

I think you're expecting a bit much from a nation that considers American Idol and The Bachelor to be quality television. We like our performing monkeys here. It's the modern version of "bread and circuses".
-
@antiquarian I trace the downfall to playing sports on artificial turf.
-
-
@dkf well, he is more than famous. In the same way, we have Worse Than Failure.

And not being a fad.
All these crappy twitter memes die within a few months, and then people wonder how they ever found them funny.
Real reddit memes are still funny after years:

It was declared dead even before Trump deleted his tweet after 6 hours.

@ben_lubar I love how most of the "this isn't funny" crowd is also the liberal-bashing crowd. It's almost as if they couldn't bear to see their Dear Leader being made fun of...

A large portion of the "this isn't funny" crowd are hipsters, who are generally liberals. There's more than one reason to hate a dumb joke.
-
@ben_lubar Did you just call yourself a hipster?

Have you seen the graphics of the game I'm known for playing?

@ben_lubar You make a surprisingly good point.

What? I love seeing Obama get made fun of.
Also, there was some wheat among the covfefe chaff.

THANKS, OBAMA

And now it's a backronym! Communications Over Various Feeds Electronically for Engagement.
-
most of the "this isn't funny" crowd
Are there such people?
Germans?
-
Rep. Mike Quigley (D-Ill.) introduced legislation Monday to classify presidential social media posts as presidential records. The Communications Over Various Feeds Electronically for Engagement (COVFEFE) Act, would amend the Presidential Records Act to include "social media." Presidential records must be preserved, according to the Presidential Records Act, which would make it potentially illegal for the president to delete tweets.

Because what we need is more laws.
Is there really enough people that actually care the president deletes a tweet?
-
@Karla It's not really "more" laws, just an addition to an existing one.

@Karla It's not really "more" laws, just an addition to an existing one.
That is not a distinction that changes my opinion.
-
@Karla
Some people, like these federal judges, seem to think that the presidential twatter is importantbut then again federal judges are probably part of the mainstream media or something
-
@Luhmann Indeed. If actual policy and rulings are based on tweets they also need to be part of a permanent record.

Yeah, why should the public know what their government is doing? That would just be more job-killing regulation.
-
How the hell is governmental policy based on tweet??
Who doesn't know what he tweeted regardless of the deletion?
How is this hiding anything?
-
@Karla It's just more "Who, whom?" going on (unless someone thinks Obama never deleted any tweets).
-
@antiquarian it's one thing for Obama to have deleted tweets, but I don't recall Obama making tweets that were being cited as precedent towards legal rulings.
-
tweets that were being cited as precedent towards legal rulings.
:theresyourproblem.jpg:
-
@antiquarian well, duh, but since they have been cited, they now need to be preserved as though the clown is some kind of prescient genius or something.
-
@Arantor I'm quite sure someone is already preserving them. The first hit for a google search of "Does Obama delete tweets?" goes to an archive of his deleted tweets. And viewing Trump (or any other American President, for that matter) as a prescient genius is a in itself.
-
@antiquarian of course it is but in a few decades time, he'll probably be remembered as the champion of America or something even more horrifying.
Idiocracy wasn't a comedy, but a documentary that fell backwards in time from the future by accident.
