Seriously though, this:
1-Click ordering is always enabled for digital video, Kindle books, MP3s, and other digital purchases.
automatically adds +50 evil points to the company. There's just no excuse for it.
- Eleventy Billion evil points for patenting 1-click ordering and not allowing anyone else to use it.
+ 10 dickhead points to Markdown for assuming that a line starting in + is a list item

people at the same address get all the benefits
That could be it. I don't think my wife had as much when she was an extra account on her dad's Prime membership

Yes.

Same delivery address gets all of the benefits.
Not for me, I used the same address as my dad and still could only get Prime shipping as a secondary member on his account. So it's probably more like "Same delivery address outside of Germany gets all of the benefits." :|

@accalia I think ms groove/onedrive is the same

Kindle Owners’ Lending Library
I think this is meant to mean sharing your kindle libraries? I've never managed to find a setting for it in the Kindle app.
No, it's an actual "borrow" ebooks from Amazon thing. Based on my reading, this unfortunately doesn't apply to the Kindle app, just to actual Kindle Device Owners. So you have to buy a real Kindle to get in on that at all.
Hmm, I wonder what old ones cost on Ebay...

Or you can get a kindle fire, which is pretty awesome for the price.

Kindle Unlimited does, though.

Yes, but that costs more than Prime itself. The KOLL is included in Prime if you can get a hold of a Kindle.

It's probably the 'I can borrow 1 book a month for free' thing. It's nice.
Seriously thinking about upgrading to the paid version tho - my local library is missing books in so many interesting series, and the waiting list on other is so long, Amazon's library is looking a lot better - even if I have to pay...

I really like my Paperwhite Kindle. It was around $110 when I got it - wifi only, no-ads. It easy to read in any lighting conditions. Including outside.

I might honestly just do this. I'm currently wanting something to put sheet music on anyways.

And since I'm over 50 and member of AARP, I got a 10% discount!

i have the voyage myself, but only because i accidentally dropped my original paperwhite and it went kershatter.
i ponied up for the 3g because screw having to find a wifi access point on the road to get my reading fix. :-P

You mean, you don't already carry a wifi access point in your pocket ?

as a matter of fact i don't.
there are occasions where i am deliberately incommunicado, yet still desire my books.

the battery on the voyage also lasts literal weeks. not so for the phone.
:-P

@TimeBandit also i can't cheat and check my email myself on the voyage, but i could if i carried my phone.

@accalia I usually go on vacation with my brother, and we go by car. I've got a car charger that'll keep the phone topped up nicely. The phone detects it as 'AC charger', which always makes me chuckle since it's a DC hookup.

and i bring an old tracphone for emergency calling that will happily stay powered my entire trip.
the point of me getting away from it all is for me to get away from it all. having a smart phone on me defeats the entire purpose.

That's a valid sentiment. In that case I'd definitely bring the e-reader and leave the phone at home.
