Well, you have to do it by hand

Thank you.
Fixed. I knew I had to do by hand...
I've never used those HTML tags and assumed markdown. Hence my Google-fu fail.

Ah. Yeah, markdumb doesn't support spoilering for raisins.

EDIT: It's not even named anything like Onix or Onyx in Japanese. WTF!!!
Most of them aren't. Still, Iwark? I still remember Bellsprout: Madatsubomi And Tentacruel is something that translates literally as PoisonJellyfish. More funny is that Rapidash's name is just Gallop - in English - in Japan.
EDIT: Farfetch'd is DuckWithALeek

So, on Sunday, I managed to get 2 revives from Pokéstops, which got my total to 14. I also did a lucky egg and evolved a ton of Pokémon and hit level 23, which gave me 10 more revives.
Since then, I've hit a total of 25 Pokéstops and got 0 revives, and ended up using 5 of what I had because I decided to try helping battle a gym and the game jumped me directly into a Victrebell hyperbeaming twice in a row, knocking out two 100+ HP Hypnos immediately, then another just by circumstance of battling, then two to revive Pokémon knocked off gyms.
On the other hand, my brother, who picked me up after work so we could go out to dinner, hit a total of 5 Pokéstops between my work, dinner, and my home and got 3 revives. From those same Pokéstops, I only got regular Pokéballs, razz berries, and regular potions..
I swear the game hates me. He gets multiple revives per day, I go multiple days per revive.

Your seed was probably no good. Generate a new one (somehow)?

Does anyone know if your buddy influences spawning?
When I had Seel as my buddy, I caught 2 in a place I hadn't seen them before . Though, since I see them so rarely...I figured it could just be coincidence.
I have since switched my buddy Charmander. I hadn't seen any for a while prior to that. I got one last night at Central Park (they are known to spawn there so not too much of a surprise) but today at lunchtime there were 4 on sightings. I found 3 of them and caught 2.
The other option is the park were I work has become a nest.
-
@Karla Just found a the new nests lists and it is a Charmander nest. Used to be Sandshrew so I am happy.
-
Walked to lunch and back, hit 7 Pokéstops (3 going to, 4 coming back) and got 2 more revives. Also caught my first Kingler and Haunter.
Also, I'm kinda glad the spawn areas have changed, I'm getting a lot more Pokémon spawning in areas, including at home, though mostly still garbage. Just sucks because now I'll need to try and find a new list for spawns here since I'd still like to get more Charmanders and actually get some Bulbasaurs.
-
It occurs to me that Eevee's idle animation looks a lot like dry-humping...
-
@Karla Well, when I had a Clefairy as my buddy, I did encounter a wild Clefairy while also collecting enough candy to evolve one of those. Those are really rare (seen 6, caught 5 per pokedex and IIRC 2 of those were from eggs) and it showed up in a place where I hadn't seen one before. Since then, though, I've walked 43 km with Geodude and didn't see any spawns of it, though I did get one from an egg.

As per the pokemongoNYC subreddit, the park is Charmander nest.
-
@Tsaukpaetra Huh, I didn't know different Pokémon required different distances for a candy (since I haven't changed buddies since I got that update). Charmander (and the other starters) only require 3km per candy, and Pikachu only requires 1km per candy (and can end up on your shoulder like Eevee apparently does).
-
@ChaosTheEternal It's basically half the egg hatch distance for the species (rounded up to the nearest km).
-
-
@ChaosTheEternal No Solar Beam though.

Something weird happened to me today. I think the game hates me.
I was walking around town, when I suddenly saw an Electabuzz on my radar. Cool, I didn't have one yet, so I began looking for it and walked around the neighboring blocks for 10 minutes. Then I saw a few people gathering at an intersection which I had already passed twice, and all of them found and caught it there - except me. It had completely disappeared from my radar by the time they found it.
I feel cheated. I want my fucking Electabuzz, goddammit!
-
@asdf
Electabuzz problems? I'm shocked!
-
@asdf The same thing happened again today at the same fucking corner. I swear, someone at Niantic is trolling me right now.
-
@asdf Maybe they have a little bug where the level required to get Ebuzz was raised at some point, but the code for determining if something shows on the radar checks a different subroutine than the code that spawns pokes, and the higher level requirement didn't get updated in both places.
-
@izzion That was a very detailed description … Admit it, you work at Niantic!
-
@asdf well, I can't confirm or deny that. Neither can I offer any comment about this picture: appearing on the number one spot of a "most unwanted trainers" poster that sits in the bullpen area at Niantec that I may or may not work in.

No, but he is [art pf het hacker group that makes pokemaps.
-
Saw a Charizard on sightings and then saw it...super excited.
Gps was jumping around and I could initially engage and then lost it. Decided to run down the block close to the spawn point to try and catch it.
Drained all my Ultraballs. It was still exciting.
I do have enough Charmander candy to do the full evolution to Charizard but I am waiting for the perfect Charmander.

@Karla
Mental image: @Karla running down the block at top speed, squeeing like a teenage girl whose favorite boy band is driving by on the next road over.
-
Spotted during lunch break: Mom in her late 40s with teenage son nearby, super excited:
"Look, it told me my throw was perfect!"
Made my day.

Definitely not top speed other than that...you are not wrong.

Yeah, I'm the mom who is levels ahead of her kids.
I like to think that makes me cooler.
Shhh...let me have my fantasy.

I want to be that kind of dad one day. Let's hope my children will have a good taste in games, so I can be like the Mom I saw today. ;)
-
@asdf
INB4 that was the second Pokemon that mom has ever caught, and her kid was inwardly rolling his eyes at being dragged along by his mom while she was trying to be cool.
-
@izzion It didn't look like he was uncomfortable at all. It was really sweet.

I started off clueless. Kids caught my first 2.
As a non-gamer, I didn't understand gaming mechanics. And it wasn't until they explained things and I started catching my own that I got real into it.
I didn't understand concepts of candy and berries. Or even limited balls (until I ran out).
I was level 2 and they were probably above 10 when I started seriously playing.
I hit level 20 before they did.
The boys do game play videos on youtube and now we finally have things to talk about. They often go into way too much detail than I want.
Their friends think it is cool that their parents play.
-

Yeah, you really only make that mistake once.

Passed on a Pidgeotto of the Beast today:
-
@ChaosTheEternal
And you had 66 Pokeballs, how fitting.I failed to catch a Squirtle around level 600 today. Damn, that thing would have been useful once evolved.
-
I only need 3 more Pokemon to have 142.
Muk, Alakazam, and Chancy.
I'm pretty sure Chancy will be the last, I've never seen it in the wild and the other 2 I am just 1 candy shy and Abra is my buddy.

I found a Chansey near a railway station once.
-
@aliceif Did you catch it?
My husband hatched his.
-
@Karla Yup, caught it. 117 CP
-
@aliceif said in The Official Pokèmon Go Thread:
117 CP
So not useful in the grand scheme of things but I still like finding rares.
I got happy because I hatched Charmander today.
-
@Karla The only Chansey I've seen I got from a 10km egg.
I don't think they ever get to a high CP, so they must be intended as the low level defenders on gyms.
-
@ChaosTheEternal Yeah that's how my husband got his.
Even with a low CP I'd much prefer one from a 10K egg than Scyther, Pinser, or Jynx. What am I supposed to do with half a dozen of those at roughly the same CP/IV?
-
I've caught 2 Scythers and a Jynx in the wild, not seen any from eggs yet (though I barely go through eggs enough to seemingly get 10km eggs, it seems to take me at least 3 days to hatch even a 5km egg).
Though I have gotten 2 Electabuzz (both at 1100 CP, and one has a Fighting attack as the primary move) from 10km eggs and my brother got 2 Eevees from them.
-
@ChaosTheEternal NYC is a great walking city and I have discovered I can hatch eggs taking the bus (as well as catch Pokemon and get Pokestops).
There is a north/south bus line that runs most of the length of Manhattan Island.
Yeah 10Ks are rare and I had like 7 2Ks at one point.
I've gotten a decent amount Eevees from 10K but those I can do something with.
What do I need tons of a kind that has no evolution?
And it is Pincers that I dislike the most since they are the ones I catch the most of.
