@Lorne-Kates Well I'm glad you're at least not being fucking irritating as shit in my thread.

@Lorne-Kates I see you like thinking big...

dunno, universe implodes and gives birth to universe (n+1) ?

(Post-hard-refresh reply)
Do notifications only point to posts within the last 12 hours or something?
Because I find I have to scroll up quite a bit every time I come to a thread until I find the last post I've read.I might as well remove the post number from the URL and use the popup thingy before it vanishes. It's really annoying.
-
@Zecc Collated notifications always point to the last post in the group

What? That makes Node sense.
Same with "unread" pointing to the last READ message in a thread.
-
@Lorne-Kates Oh, you're following this thread? There have been 50 replies, I bet you'd like to read them all, since you're following it and all. Here, here's the last post, no need to thank me
-
@RaceProUK said in Blakeyrat pointing out NodeBB problems:

I know that was reported and acknowledged, but I don't think it's been fixed yet.
-
@Lorne-Kates said in Blakeyrat pointing out NodeBB problems:
@Tsaukpaetra Yes, like that. Hows? Because there is no View Raw button anymore.
-
When you select "New Topics" in the Unread tab, and there aren't any, it says:
"There are no unread topics."
- No, there are 25 unread topics, you were showing me that less than a second ago, and
- I didn't ask for unread topics, you stupid piece of shit software, I asked for new topics
So basically the same bug as this one: https://what.thedailywtf.com/topic/19205/blakeyrat-pointing-out-nodebb-problems/1382, except more cases of it.
Whoever lazily half-implemented the "new" posts feature obviously didn't bother to actually test it in any way, but I suppose I shouldn't be surprised by that by now.
-
@blakeyrat wait, so literally the only problem is that it says "there are no unread topics" when it means "there are no new topics"?
Yet somehow you turn that into a two-parter where it's giving you the wrong thing and it's making a claim that's not even right about the wrong thing it gave you.
The simpler explanation is that the message got copied and pasted in both places. Or it's just the same message.
-
@anotherusername said in Blakeyrat pointing out NodeBB problems:

It's not even that complicated. /unread/new uses exactly the same template as /unread, just with different data.
-

Whatever, the message is wrong and a lie and it's a super obvious bug that even the most cursory QA pass would have caught. That's the point.

Unrelated to this thread, does anyone get an email when Blakeyrat's "invisible air quotes" detector shits itself? because you must have been getting a lot of emails today...
-
Oh good.
Chat spam.
This is exactly what I wanted.

-
@XanderTheGamer Hilarious.
Look, when you send me a chat message OUT OF NOWHERE with a link to a autism conspiracy site, how did you expect me to react? You didn't even say "hello" first or anything. Of course I thought it was spam.

Horzontal rules are WAY too faint:
If I didn't know I just typed it myself, I'd have no idea there was a horizontal rule there.

-
@PJH I guess it's a little better?
-
@PJH Your rule is also incorrectly matching the
<hr>
under the tools under post 1 on every topic page:When I want to match something inside posts, I usually use
.posts .content
-
When I click into a thread now, the top navigation tabs all shift to the right of the thread title:
(Kind of-- you can see that the leftmost one still kind of overlaps the end of the thread title.)
Then when I click back to Unread, they shift back:
Do you think maybe we could have them in ONE location, so my spatial memory has a fighting chance of remembering where the icons are? Instead of them spazzing all over?
EDIT: it looks really "special" in this topic, where the title just overlaps all over the place:
-
Oh and one I posted in a thread somewhere:
The Quote button always puts the quoted content at the end of the post, regardless of where the cursor is.
Drag&Dropping an image always puts the image where the cursor is, regardless of where the end of the post is. (Or whether the cursor is right in the middle of a word, but whatever.)
How about a little consistency?
-
@anotherusername To be clear, on the HRs, I'd much rather have a thicker line than a darker line.
-
I got an upvote notification despite having them turned off:
-
@blakeyrat They disabled the Upvotes plugin because apparently it caused hangups when (re)starting NodeBB.
-
Here's a new brokenness:
-
@blakeyrat sure, sure. Keep your pants on, there's only two topics about it already.
-
@anotherusername I don't read topics.
-
@blakeyrat said in Blakeyrat pointing out NodeBB problems:

Yeah, no idea what was going on in @anotherusername 's head there...

This post is deleted!

Great now that you've posted about it in your topic I'm going to have to post about it in my topic about your topic, and I've already posted one dupe of the bug. Way to go, Blakey.

This is related to the desktop mode of the Unresponsive plugin and how stuff is set to float. I opened an issue and started a thread in Bugs about this. If anyone has ideas about how to fix that, I'd be happy to hear them.

Control-B no longer bolds text in the editor. Nor does Control-I italicize.
Am I insane, or did the Recent page used to infiniscroll? It no longer does.

@Tsaukpaetra They stop working like a few hours after you refresh? Is that what you're saying?

Not at all. But, I am saying the apparent solution to most transient NodeBB problems is to refresh.

I think Sony would prefer that you buy your own Vita, so they can record a second unit sold.

Hmm, that does appear to fix at least the infiniscrolling of the thread list.

Near as I can tell, most of NodeBB does indeed have a post-refresh uptime of a few hours at best.

Seriously, what's up with that? That should at best be a user configurable option.
I'm tired of having to scroll up, even without jellypotato.
