New (to me) Disconsistency noticed - with additional TL3 abuse!
-
So, as we know, anyone with TL3 or above can change thread titles. It's annoying as hell, but hey. What I've just noticed, however, is this (sorry if JBert and Jaloopa don't want to be outed as "liking" my posts, but it's already in the public record, guys)
-
The notifications are always screwed up. When you open the tray it has to take a several second long round trip to the server just to remove the visible duplicates and rearrange everything out from under your mouse just as you are about to click.

yep. somehow, and i'm not even going to try to figure out how, changing the title of a thread resets the likes notifications for it.
oh and if you get a notification that your post was moved, or as we say around her "Jeffed", the notification points to where your post used to be
not only that but notifications of badges such as "nice post" which are tied to a post in the database take you to the public badge list page where you then have to find which one of your badges among everyone's badges was the new one so you can click on it to find the post. and to top it off that list is arranged by how old the post that the badge is attached to is, so if you got the badge for a post you made months ago and it finally got the tenth like, good luck finding it again.

I don't think that's true. I believe changing the category or Jeffing to another (existing or new) topic both do that, though.

9 likes. Great, now nobody else like the post for several months.
-
Actually, while we're on the topic of badges for receiving likes, is there some reason why there are 2 sets of badges with (as far as I can tell) identical conditions, so you always get 2 badges at once?
-
One set is for "real" topics, the other is for gamed topics like /t/1000. But due to Discourse you actually get both. Or something like that.

And sometimes the post will even still be there.
-
Or something like that.
The criteria for the built-in badges like "Nice Post" can't be modified to, for example, exclude /t/1000, nor (IIRC) can they even be disabled. The TDWTF-specific ones are indeed identical, except certain topics are excluded. In non-excluded topics, they always come as a pair.

built-in badges … can't be modified …, nor (IIRC) can they even be disabled.
If only the gamification shite were implemented as a plugin...

But, but gamification shite is core forum functionality?!

So why can't they make even that work properly?Oh, yeah. I forgot. Discourse.
