"But they still didn’t explain why $710 billion."
-
tl;dr: Bank fucks up, online statement shows two debits of $710,616,369,070.72. 71061636907072 isn't particularly close to a power of 2, and its binary representation doesn't have any other obvious patterns. The only thing I can come up with right off is that num - 64 is divisible by 2^21 and has smallish prime factors.
-
She has more debt than Poland!
-
It's long, and patterns like
369
make me think that it's some keyboard-bashing test data.

It looks like a barcode to me, though UPC/EAN searches didn't turn up any matches. I've seen it before, when someone using our POS system accidentally scanned an item UPC into an amount field. (Caused an outage on our system, too.) In our case, thought, it was only like $4.7 billion.
-
Maybe IEEE FP representation, or just a pointer?
-
I think I figured it out. It's 40 A1 53 A0 00 40 in hex. Unicode 0x40a1 is a chinese character meaning "polish", 0x53a0 is a chinese character meaning "toilet", and 0x0040 is "@".
So some chinese guy in IT wants to come polish her toilet, which I can only assume is a euphemism.

Thankfully, Angela Kwong knew the bank had made an error on her account
No! Really? Is she sure she didn’t accidentally press the “OK” button on the PIN machine when the shop assistant had typed $710,616,369,070.72 into it?

Oblig XKCD:

Correct.

Not an accident. She pressed it TWICE:
two debits of $710,616,369,070.72
;-)

Maybe she was buying an European country and the problem is that they charged her twice?
-
Maybe she wanted to buy half a Belgium and got surprised by the fact she had to pay for the other half as well?

The next few episodes of Shiinfo Ironbrand's story contain a bunch of rat people being killed.
Edit: Also, they have the degree of facial animation you would get by slightly squeezing a tennis ball with a slit in it.

I think we are both correct. Best expressed with an XKCD:

"The first time I saw it, I had to go to my bathroom and get my glasses"
Why didn't she just say 'I had to get my glasses'? Why did she feel the need to specify that she had to go into the bathroom to get her glasses?
Filed under: Too much information, Maybe she only reads in the bathroom
-
She had to go to the bathroom. The glasses weren't in there.

She had to go to the bathroom. The glasses weren't in there.
I need to go to the bathroom to look for my glasses.
Why? You left them in the living room
Yes, but the lights better in the bathroom.
-
I was thinking more
I need to go to the bathroom and also put on my glasses.
your business is appreciated
Okay, now I'll go to my bedroom where my glasses are.
There they are, right where I left them.
-
Dude, if I suddenly saw 710b of debt on my account, I'd "go to the bathroom" right then and there.
-
-
I'd just laugh and say, "try to collect on that, fuckers!"
But then the newspaper wouldn't publish my quote.
