Moar Cooties

That 599 error though...

I'm pondering poking @accalia to see if she wants to resurrect ServerCooties for this...
I figured out enough npm stuff to make it work.
Hmm...can you turn it down? It seems to be making things worse.

I was just trying to figure that out - it should be much slower now.

I've also stopped it polling /t/2 for now as that got up to 30s.
-
It is about three times as bad as it was yesterday. It is even spreading to threads now.
-
Press F for respect

Actually, it's 23:00; time to slack off in bed.

Even better:

Yep. I'm going to attempt to be productive for the rest of the week. Ping me when whoever is paying for the servers takes it off of T1.micro size...
-
/unread is now a solid two minutes. In exchange, long threads are as bad as /unread was yesterday and notifications are as bad as threads were this morning.
-
@pie_flavor I do have to wonder what's causing the apparent increase. We're not posting as much anymore (for obvious reasons) yet it's getting progressively worse...
-
@Tsaukpaetra whatever it is, it's horrific.
@ben_lubar fix it already
-
@pie_flavor said in Moar Cooties:

@ben_lubarfix itapply lubar to the server already
-
And just like that, it's fixed. I didn't think that'd actually work.

Feature Request: WTDWTF as a
blockchaingit so we can clone the forum, browse the threads and make posts locally, then commit changes. Then when the server is eventually up again, we can all push our changes and let @boomzilla resolve the 10000 merge conflicts.
-

It didn't. Back down to 7 seconds on /unread already.

Turn every post into a Git repo. Allow other users to file issues and submit pull requests.

@Tsaukpaetra No repro. 3s for me. Although 2m if I'm hitting the back button.

When WTDWTF's trying to pass off the server issues as user issues
-
599?!
-
Server senpai didn't notice me

That's the point, freebies should not actually worth anything

OK. Figured out how to connect to the DB. Analyzing...vacuuming...
INFO: vacuuming "public.legacy_zset" INFO: scanned index "legacy_zset_pkey" to remove 589168 row versions
...reindexing...this is taking a while...
-
@boomzilla OK. Let's see how that does.
-
@Luhmann my blind cat would attack the damn thing, always going directly for the little sweeper spinning things. Had to stop using it (roombqa, not cat).
-
Somebody please notify me if Alex ever sets up a donations account somewhere. I figure I should start paying him a bit for providing the medium for my only non-work-related human interaction for several years.

load average: 37.50, 47.22, 48.01

@boomzilla broke the servers
:point_and_laugh:

Eh...hmm....
That's not suspicious at all.

Cheap DDoS.
Or we got featured on 6 o'clock news.

Lots of suspicious requests from the Seychelles and Estonia.
-
@boomzilla To a specific URL or just randomly or root?
-
@cvi requests to all over the place, but only one request from any particular IP.
-
@boomzilla Could still be regulars browsing through Tor. Does the log say whether they were logged-in to an account?

I suppose a few of those could be. It seems highly unlikely. The charts show that the surge is from guests. Would your apparent IP (i.e., the Tor exit point) jump around when browsing using Tor?

@boomzilla for instance,

It sends a GET request every 20-30 minutes. And no websocket traffic. Fuck xir. Getting a
deny

IOW, A Node.js server can't handle a GET request every 20 to 30 minutes
That's some amazing technology

That's kinds hard to find a straight answer for in a hurry. Over time, yes. But for each page load? ...Depends on the client implementation...?

Not getting many
403
s. Found this: http://www.ipdeny.com/ipblocks/I've blocked everything coming from the Seychelles. That still leaves the Estonians and I think an ISP from the UK that keeps popping up, and which I started blocking.
