:wtf: How can this be so wrong??? (AKA the Discopocalypse thread)

Followed by "Sam talked to Google and Google is issuing a fix because clearly it's their number one priority to make sure my shitty software works."

But the real gold in that one is "I have our bots set to muted". At the time of this posting, there are no replies. How much do you want to bet the first response is Jeff having a meltdown at the mention of Bots?
I'll bet he made the bots staff. They specifically exempted staff from being muted. Which actually makes some sense.

remember how we wanted a feature where you could mute a fox user?
i remember that it was a rattus norvegicus, not a vulpes vulpes that the original requester wanted to mute. and i seem to recall that the original requester never did mute anyone because by the time the featire was actually even considered seriously she was well over her snit.

This amused me when it turned out to be an issue with the latest version of Chrome iOS.

You may well have been the first. But that was a singular thing. I imagine there are people here who don't want to mute your bloated, diseased, putrefying, distant cousin, but they are very rare.
-
Why mute when there is so much more pleasure in actively ignoring him?

It wasn't @fox; he wasn't around yet back then.

I thought blakey suggested it originally?
I don't care enough to check though.
-
I thought blakey suggested it originally?
probably. i was talking about the proposal that the discodevs actually listened to.
-
Earliest references I can find are my suggestions and then @accalia's proposal which was posted to meta.d.
Also found a new bug with Discosearch. It will, at most, give you 50 results and then lie to you about not finding more results (instead of being honest and saying it stopped searching), because if I change the sort (which only offers "Latest Post" for sorting by date), those two hits don't show up in the search results.
-

@sam's post here suggests blakey was the person wanting it the most at least. I'm not expecting Discosearch to find any more information.

@sam's comment just hints that blakey was seemingly the most vocal about wanting it, though maybe not the earliest. Too bad the feature didn't meet the desired level of ignoring or muting users that he (or even I) wanted (disregarding that it was broken on release). At that point, the comment from @sam is almost antagonizing.

The post I replied to wasn't a reply to that post ;)

You can always DiscoSearch for it

Belgium. It actually works (tested on one of my alts). And with our version I don't even have to use the URL to get there.

NO! Moderators should not be able to moderate. It's up to Jeff to come onto your forum and remove "wrong" bookmarks. Especially if you have too many of them.

New feature for Disco1.6: automatic removal of 'old' bookmarks when you have more than 17. Also, the icon will be replaced by .

It's a beautiful Tuesday. I just made everyone in my office pancakes to celebrate my two year anniversary and/or Pancake Tuesday and/or Chinese New Years. There's a long weekend coming up. What better way to cap off the morning with a look at what's fucked up with Discourse lately.
502 OK: A user is DARING to report the 502 OK problem They don't have a high CPU load. What could be causing it? It's only posted today, so give it at least 2 more hours before
https://meta.discourse.org/t/502-504-when-approve-post/39297Or maybe they will be told that some system settings have to be changed to address the 502 OK. So please make someone an Admin, and have them do the work. Well, except that giving someone Admin privileges doesn't guarantee that they will STAY an admin:
https://meta.discourse.org/t/admin-permissions/39237
Okay, okay that might be a legit bug. Please upgrade to the latest version of Discourse, where that bug may be fixed. Just click the "Click here to upgrade link"
Well fuck.

Awesome.

I had to look that up.
Monday, February 15
National Flag of Canada Day
CanadaSeriously?
-
June 14 is a much better day to celebrate a flag.
-
Celebrating a flag is one thing; getting a DAY OFF WORK to celebrate a flag is something entirely different.
-
Not really. Only if you are so ingrained into your own navel that you cannot see any other way of doing things.
FWIW, we don't have any independence day either, and so we celebrate flag day instead. A relatively modern invention is to also call it "national day", but it has nothing to do with the founding of our nation since that happened too far back and over too long a time for anyone to remember the dates.
-

Yes.
Monday, February 15National Flag of Canada DayCanada
Seriously?
No.
In case UnBoxing fails:
It is not a public holiday, although there has been discussion about creating one.
It's Family Day, a provincial holiday introduced a few years ago. Otherwise know as "Fuck It, I Want A Long Weekend In February" day.

Yeah, that'd be cuntfuckingly stupid.

No worse than a day off to celebrate a fat man sneaking down chimneys, leaving presents for children.Yes, I know what's not why the day exists. But let's face it, it's what the day has come to be.

Sorry, he wasn't getting paid enough so we had to fire him.
I bet you outsourced the elves' jobs to China.
-
lolololol.
And then FIVE days later:
What reports? There was nothing on meta.derp.
And since they claim they fixed these bugs that they were not told about, anyone want to go to meta.derp and test that?
Edit Also, "minutes"? I suppose "never" is technically an amount of minutes.

I see a fix for a Youtube thing, that might be one. I see a possible fix for the Likes thing.
Can anyone confirm if this fixes the MD5bomb?

Looks like it does. And no, I don't think it's been replaced with a GUID bomb; no post content is used to derive the GUID.
