:wtf: How can this be so wrong??? (AKA the Discopocalypse thread)
-
...probably shouldn't have closed it previously then, Jeff.
If only there were a mechanism for checking whether it was actually fixed and would catch subsequent changes that broke it. We could call it, I dunno...an exam? Automated checks? I'm sure someone can come up with something. Appropriately color coded, of course. But not too colorful.

There was. He banned
usit.

I suppose teeeeeeechnically it's not XSS, but it's an impersonation bug of sorts, so can he get an honorary XSS badge?
-
I was a little disappointed that no one scolded him for calling them PMs.
I really like how the way they do the from stuff in disco mails is apparently known for sabotaging user email clients into posting to discourse instead of sending an email to the person.

Don't forget how that's "user error" and not "Discourse error" for screwing up handling emails.
It's like the avatar thing all over again... solved simply in every forum software ever until the Discodevs got involved.

I don't see any @accaliaβs there ...
-
I read the 5th one as "Blue lantern of NOPE" due to bluriness, does that count?
-
I don't see any @accaliaβs there ...
neither do i, i'm not sure why GIS picked it up.
-
The image is titled "Accalia in the Lantern Corp".
-
The image is titled "Accalia in the Lantern Corp".
ah. that would do it then. i admit i didn't spend much time thinking of why that image was selected.
-
And why did you cut off the other three? Assuming the image contains the black and white ones.
-
And why did you cut off the other three? Assuming the image contains the black and white ones.
becuase that's what GIS showed me.
/shrug

I read that as "Blue lantern of Nope"
Can I be the lantern of Nope?
-
-
So he does. Mea culpa
-
I don't see any @accaliaβs there ...
Yeah, there should be a Fuschia Lantern of Spellar.
<Yes, I misspelled that intentionally.

Well, sometimes cuteness leaks.
Remember, we talked about this before we got it. It's your cuteness. You wanted it; it's your responsibility. When it leaks, you have to clean up the mess.

How can you not know whether a bug was fixed? You just check it's history in the bug tracker ... oh, right; NVM.

But they all have to be emoti-
What do you mean, 'there's a life one'?

Dude. That would either mean I'd willingly do that in PHP because I don't know better, or that I wanted to go for a WTF factor and PHP was the most WTF thing I could think of. Also, that I run a Discourse instance.
I don't even know what the most offensive part of that is.
-
well, if it's any consolation, I meant it in the most loving, trolly way possible, and did not mean to suggest in any way, shape, or form, that I believed you would be so desperate for a PHP fix that you would build a PHP-Discourse connector.
But if, for whatever reason you did go insane enough to try that, i'm sure you would be able to do it right proper.
-
But if, for whatever reason you did go insane enough to try that
I tried to interface with Discourse using C++ once. I'm considering taking that up again. So yes, the insanity is present. Just not PHP insanity.
-
I feel like Blue Lanterns would be the least effective. Green makes things happen through raw willpower, but "I sure hope Sinestro has a giant anvil fall on his head." sounds like a pretty hard ability to have work very well, depending on how it works.
I also wonder how those purple ones do anything, since love doesn't seem like it'd be able to make many constructs that are useful in a fight.

There's a married person joke in here somewhere, but I'm too single to make it.
-
Yes, exactly. That kid can't make any constructs with a lame power like that.
-
I think there were all of two episodes where Ma-Ti existed beyond yelling "Heart!" while summoning Captain Planet. I think his pet monkey got more air-time than he did.
Fucking Ted Turner.
-
But I mean what do I know, maybe all the purple ones are sadists.
-
Maybe all the purple one's are dildos. They are dildos. Giant purple dildos.
-
It is certainly within their power to rain those on the enemy by the thousand, at least.
-
That's alot of dildos.

https://meta.discourse.org/t/discourse-server-slower-after-update/36857
We upgraded, and then as soon as all that happened, my instance running discourse got a lot more CPU intensive and slower.
eh, probably just a coincidence, cuz EC2
Yeah, after all, we have performance graphs that prove it's not us, right guys? Guys? Why the laughing?
But you see, the change happened right after I upgraded
Yeah, Amazon probably just moved you to a slower host, it happens, gg
I'll roll back to see if it gets better after I downgrade
HA HA HA HO HO HO HA HA HA...wipes tears...guys, he wants to roll back!!!
-
I like how already learned how to post condescending XKCD comics as a reply.
-
That's like Day 1, Page 1 of the Discourse Training Manual.
Ok, who am I kidding, that's the entire manual.
-
I like this helpful bit of advice.
No prizes for guessing that both links go to the same place.
-
Close and Jeff! Close and Jeff!
-
Yeah, Amazon probably just moved you to a slower host, it happens, gg
So at the exact moment he upgraded Amazon moved a running server onto a slower host?
-
Fucking hell...
This has now turned into:
The search box doesn't work properly on a Nexus 10
We can't repro this on iPad so this must be specific to your device
I've tried another Android device with the same result
No repro on iPad Pro
tried it on Firefox Mobile on Android, same result
We don't support Firefox mobile - can you repro it on Firefox desktop?
-
We don't support Firefox mobile
The funny part is that Discourse actually works better in Firefox for Android than in Chrome, at least on my device.

I just did a GIS on "mott555" and the results were surprisingly relevant.
Bug killer. Lots and lots of bug killer. (Guess "dcon" == "d-CON") And not a single image pertaining to me...
People. Nothing but people. There was one guy holding a dildo (it wasn't purple), and then there was Khan:
Something for the bikeshed:

Same with my S5.
-
So he's using the proper Discourse container image thing, and running it on Ubuntu (as per the guide) but it's not supported because he's running it on Azure?
THAT'S NOT HOW CONTAINERS ARE SUPPOSED TO WORK.
-
Hey, you can't just park your Discourse container on any random ley line and expect it to work.
-
Nor apparently could I just park my like on any random post and expect it to work.
-
Good work on the width of those two textboxes, Discourse.
