Are you sure they aren't just cracking down on The Onion? (of course I didn't read TFA!)
Oh, Turkey the country.
Suddenly it makes somewhat more sense.

@Zecc If they really wanted to start cracking down on stuffing, I'd say to start with the celery, anyway.

I second this.

And now for some genuinely good news!
-
@Karla Yeah, sounds very weird to me as well. They just "diagnose" a pregnancy without also doing an ultrasound at least afterwards?
And a GP not having an ultrasound? What kind of GP is that? Every GP I have been to has one of those - it's not as if they're too expensive.
-
-
@Rhywden The NHS in UK has loads of middle management which piss away money so the Doctors and Nurses are normally massively overworked. Of course they keep sticking more money into it and it consistently fails because there is more bureacracy.
-
@Rhywden For some reason ultrasounds are usually performed in hospitals, although some GPs offices and midwives have them.

Yeah, hospitals and imaging centers would have the bigger ultrasound equipment and can do the fancy 4-D pictures but I've been to plenty of medical offices that had them as well.
I may have a slanted opinion since I was undergoing fertility treatments and was a high risk pregnancy. So I had tons of ultrasounds.

@boomzilla Brilliant
-
@boomzilla I got this great idea for a restaurant called "pain, sel, et eau" - 40 kinds of bread, 30 kinds of salt, and 30 kinds of water. Very high-class.
-
@Gribnit I like salt. Let me know when you open.
-
@Gribnit said in In other news today...:
30 kinds of salt, and 30 kinds of water
So, 30 kind of salted water
-
@TimeBandit If you want, sure. Maybe you've eaten too much salted bread.
Also, more on the order of 2700 kinds of salted water, I think.

Nah nah nah. At most maybe one of them would be seawater. The rest are expensive-soundingly sourced artisan water. Maybe some clustered stuff for the real idiots.
-
-
@brie booyah. that's the stuff.

@loopback0 said in In other news today...:
All of them organic seawater.
You need a good reason to overcharge

Well, a good-sounding reason at least. Can't let just let anyone afford to eat salted bread with water. And the ambiance is expensive, it's hard to accurately-seemingly recreate a different historical prison setting for each table.

whoa whoa whoa
I just wanted some salt.

Too bad it wasn't Pain, Sel, et eau because that would have been funny

In seeking to comply with the Linux kernel's new Code of Conduct enacted by the recent 4.19 release, a patch series has been sent out today replacing profane kernel code comments with "hugs".
-
-
@loopback0 Everyone still knows what was really said. Expect this to get worse and the kernel to get worse as a result.

Onebox fails again...
Mother offered sexual favours to takeaway staff in return for free fried chicken then racially abused and slapped one round the face when they refused
- Kelly Fielding, 31, demanded free food in Chesters Chicken in Wythenshawe
- Manchester staff tried to pacify her by offering her four free fried chicken wings
- But she demanded more, hurled insults and racially abused a member of staff
- A judge gave her an 18-month community order after she also spat at police

Oh, she seems like a lovely lady that one...
This offending also meant she was in breach of a suspended sentence, imposed after she tried to smuggle drugs into prison.
Fielding, from Wythenshawe, has 12 previous convictions which prosecutors said were 'almost all' for battery or public order offences.

And they wonder why a lot of men in the UK look outside of the UK for women.

Usually, church graveyards and burial grounds are exempt from the tax as they are seen as places of worship. But Mr Daw has been told that his long barrow is a commercial storage facility that must pay the tax, as it falls above the rateable value on a business property of £12,000.

Seems that an equal and opposite bureaucracy must exist here. What about historical recreation grants?

I mean that news has me thinking of figuring out how to get a working Hurd deployment but I do not know how near to the heat-death of the universe to target with my time machine.
