Actually psilocybe mushrooms have been successfully used in the treatment of drug addiction.
Although one should point out that many substances initially ballyhooed as treatments for addiction have later turned out to be addictive themselves, e.g. cocaine, morphine, even heroin.
I know that heroin was supposed to be a less-addictive alternative to morphine, but it's the first time I hear anyone promoted any opioids to treat addiction. Cocaine, yes. That was used for all sorts of shit.

Can we ban "vegan" since that probably offend carnivores
We're actively banning product names like vegan sausage / schnitzel / whatever which usually imply they contain meat, so there's that.

@topspin Somehow I'm offended at all the vegetarian recipes that are actually wish-it-was-meat recipes. And I'm not even interested in eating vegetarian.

Yay for mixing units in a single report.
A 133 kilogram 21 st, [293 lb - ed] US woman murdered her boyfriend by smothering him with her stomach during a row, a court heard.
Windi Thomas pleaded guilty to the third-degree murder of Keeno Butler, who died from suffocation.
Thomas, 44, also hit Mr Butler with a table leg during the fight, a court in Pennsylvania was told.
She then lay on top of her boyfriend, who weighed around nine stone [126 lb, 57kg - ed], and used her stomach to prevent him from breathing, Jet 24 reports.

The woman told police she didn't take the threat seriously because the man had an orange gun, and told him she wasn't going to give him the SUV.

You know you've got a PR problem when the best thing you can say about your vegan product is "you'd swear you were eating meat!"

I have no qualms about eating vegan shit, as long as it's tasty in it's own right. That the companies are trying to just substitute meat with an inferior product is stupid. Make the whole meal from the ground up around a new base. Also, stop with the fucking soy shit already, its horrible in every way.

Yep. There's lots of really tasty recipes (Indian cuisine has some great options, for example) that happen to not use meat or animal-derived products. But they don't really support the Great Vegan Holy Crusade so you're not supposed to eat them; they're not Woke enough.

I don't know enough to tell if this belongs in the Good Ideas Thread or the Bad Ideas Thread. Maybe we need a Weird Ideas Thread.

@dkf My mother cooks Indonesian at times (Indonesian is to The Netherlands as Indian is to the UK, it appears). That typically involves rice and multiple meat, egg, and vegetable dishes and she'd never put meat in the egg or vegetable dishes.
Popular takeaway here is called Chinese, though it's really somewhere between Chinese and Indonesian with a heavy dose of basically just Dutch. That does tend to include some meat even in the vegetable dishes unless you specifically order vegetarian versions.

Well, yeah, you have a comprehension problem in the general public. Surprise, surprise. Logically however, it makes perfect sense:
-
People perform harmful action x because they're attached to pleasure y.
-
You provide a way of providing pleasure y without causing the harm produced by action x.
-
The non-sadistic will tend to switch to the method of obtaining pleasure y without performing harmful method x.

No problem, apparently, with the misogyny inherent in "Under the Sea", with what may be the raunchyest line ever found in a Disney song: "Darlin', it's better down where it's wetter, take it from me!"

Nah. Kids these days play Fortnite, where they kill, blow shit up and demolish buildings. BUT! There's no blood and gore, because that would be awful

In addition to being problematic due to cultural appropriation.
