It's the difference between "Excuse me but could you step to the side, I need to get through that door." and "Hey asshole, I'm walking here!"
How do I say that there's awfully lot in common between what USSR did and what modern left does in a way that won't make me look like an asshole?
Maybe by specifying
a) what or who you exactly mean by "the left"
Let's say leftist movements in US academia, for example.
b) what it is exactly what they're supposedly doing?
"Soviet government had pushed their alternative version of science, that focused more on social justice than raw facts. They've also reinvented a good chunk of the dictionary, giving new meanings to old words and leaving others to be completely forgotten. I can't help but notice how similar to that are modern achievements in social sciences - over the last ten years or so, there's been a huge push to remove the notion that there are fundamental differences between men and women, both physical and psychological - how they behave, how they think, how they generally approach life. These are all well documented, but now it's become sexist to even as much as mention that, and sexism is often an express ticket to social ostracism - losing job, getting threats from random people, etc. Similar thing happened with transgender, with mental disabilities, and with human races. It's not just people disagreeing that there are differences - it's now become impossible to properly study those, because the risk of getting outed by the society has become too big. I don't like this, for the same reasons I don't like what USSR had been doing."

@Gąska Sorry, but I won't answer now that the thread is in the Garage. I found it rather civil but obviously that can't stand. And I know how things deterioate there.

That's true. I attribute that to being 11. (from what little I remember from that far back...)

Eww, not only is the site inundated with ads every paragraph, but it keeps switching them out every five seconds! Holy shit!
And not only that, they're different sizes!

Sure, but the patch has already deleted all the user's files anyway.

@TimeBandit normally when I post a link and the server pulls shenanigans like that (or adblock-blocking or paywalling or it just plain doesn't onebox well), I try posting an archived/cached link and see whether it oneboxes/works better than the original did.

OK... so a girl was up a tree, refusing to come down, and the police got involved. And then she did come down afterall.
Nowhere in the article does it explain:
- Why she didn't want to come down
- Why the police got involved in the first place
- Why she eventually changed her mind and decided to come down
So... what's the point of this article?
Really slow news day in St. Bumfuck three weeks ago when that article was written, presumably.

The shocking and scandalous news is that the police didn't just shoot her.

Yes. Moto G or Oneplus make a good option. If you ARE HEAVY IN DEBT or have KIDS who are braking your phones!
-
@Nagesh Or, you know, if you don't think a $30 battery with a $70 SOC strapped onto it and a $70 screen should cost more than a midrange workstation.

I was moderately confused by your comment until I checked the comments on Twitter. I normally just click the link and bypass Twitter entirely. Far too many idiots on Twitter.
The article literally has a "What does this mean for the rest of the world?" section, but of course nobody reads the article. And it really doesn't help matters any that the Twitter twats are basically all conditioned to have 5 second attention spans.

I'm also partial to Twatter twits.
I also liked the: "The rest of the world should not care what we do! 'Murica!" types of comments.
