Upgraded to beta 10.

Guess I should have worked to copy more of it. :P
-
getting rid of all those columns
CDCK developer task list:
- Introduce new bugs
- Remove useful features
- Make everything a featureless sea of bland
-
At least here it uses readable date format.
-
Fixed, apparently.
-
The thread is gone.
Which is something that shouldn't ever happen in a bug tracker!
-
i stole @abarker's
it seemed apropos
I AM SPARTACUS!
Yahoo Answers
If there wasn't just so much gibberish and morons over there.
I mean, they're also on SX, but generally it's not that bad.

>Tags: is there a way to display a tag cloud using CSS?
I find the screenshot in the first post somewhat bland...
-
@accalia, @abarker, @WhoeverElseThisConcerns
Are you guys crazy? You can't just leave over there.
Any time I go to meta.d I either post a random bug or I look for topis created by TDWTF-people or with your input!
Like, there are some other cool people over there but this is my main way of looking at meta.d.
If you leave, what am I supposed to read? And if I don't read topics over there, how am I supposed to be confused about Jeffs ideas?
Do you have ANY idea of the economical damage you guys are inflicting upon my internet world? I mean, jeez!Do you guys even know how funny Jeffs ideas are?
Like this time he banned a person for "arguing" while he is constantly bikeshedding / arguing over colors on the interface... HILLARIOUS!
Good thing we don't ban people for bikeshedding over hereFiled Under: Seriously, though, come back to meta.d so I can read all those posts once a week!

Yeah, who's going to convert my random bitching in the Bugs category here into useful and proper bug reports?

…@loopback0?

@abarker can't until "a 11"
-
come back to meta.d so I can read all those posts once a week!
maybe eventually. right now i have enough to deal with here, i'm not adding any more to my plate by spending time on meta.d
-
That emoji is doing a job of transmitting the correct sentiment
-
who's going to convert my random bitching in the Bugs category here into useful and proper bug reports?
I suspect I'd go crazy within a few days if I tried.
-
Yeah, I don't know what a happy pile of shit is supposed to convey. 💩
is it called hankey?
Again android is clearly better.
-
the fact that i have to type :hankey: instead of :shit: is also hightly annoying
-
-
Oh right, the towel is called towelie. I misremembered..
-
is it called hankey?
apparently there's a bug in discourse that the last alias for an emoji replaces all the others. we used to have and but not any more.
... oh look they fixed that so :shit: works again but doesn't show in the popup emoji selector thingie. lovely
anyway it's hankey because southpark
one of the discodevs apparently thought it would be funny to have that alias

oh FFS! am i going to get 'd constantly today? that's like the fourth time since i woke up today!
-
-
unless i'm very much misremembering. nope.
he's on meta.d too
-
Bloody hell, I thought that was an TDWTF joke..
Nope - it's one of the stock emoji.
... oh look they fixed that

-
i see they fixed the parser. but the emoji selector popup is still missing them.
case in point:
-
That explains why
:poo:
doesn't work; the alias is:poop:
-
-
That explains why doesn't work; the alias is :poop:
yeah. misremembered that one. and with the popup not working (now reported) i couldn't get reminded. ;-)
-
@PJH, @boomzilla: do you guys have any visibility on the use of that setting?
Of people who have posted this year:
select disable_jump_reply, active, count(*) from users where last_posted_at > date '2015-01-01' group by disable_jump_reply, active disable_jump_reply active count false true 686 true true 63
So, a little less than 10%.
-
Instead of doing the database search, you could have just banned @abarker

Is there a way to set an alias from the admin interface?

Is there a way to set an alias from the admin interface?
Not in the way I think you're imagining it.
Could upload a duplicate image with the alias to have the same effect.

That's what I've done in the past.

And you know, if Jeff had come back and said "Our research indicates about 10% of users enabled this option", we'd probably have been "Huh, that's disappointing, but I can see it being below other priorities" and everything would have been dandy.
-
I suspect a lot of people just don't realize that they can have better. The cognitive dissonance between "read everything" and "we'll just skip all this stuff that you probably haven't read yet automatically" is pretty funny.
-
Not to mention the disparity between "Once you start reading a thread, stay there until you finish" and "You must know the INSTANT someone mentions your name somewhere on the forums!"
-
Not sure wether the question is asked wrongly. "How many tried the option and switched it off again because it worked like shit?" might be a better question, but I CBA to read up enough on the context to say if this is, in fact, better.
-
"How many tried the option and switched it off again because it worked like shit?" might be a better question
No, this is an option that prevents the default "works like shit" SOP of Discourse. The only reason I can think of to justify this is so the user can see that his post was saved successfully. But their read tracking ensures that you're fucked if you have anything other than trivial topic lengths or make sure that you're always keeping up with stuff as it's posted.

So, a little less than 10%.
Those poor fools.
I despise that setting being off. Good luck keeping track of where you are in a thread.
-
I decided to revive my @cipher1 sock account on meta.d with a new avatar. So far I've messaged @loopback0, @accalia, and @RaceProUK.
-

That's about what I was looking for, but apparently you aren't allowed to question Jeff, because that's "arguing".
-
I'm confidant Jeff will believe nobody uses that option outside of TDWTF. You'd have to gather stats from his "real" customers.
-
On meta.d right now, I'm not seeing avatars on usercards and profile pages anymore, just placeholders. Anyone else getting this? Letter avatars do show up.
-
I get the same.
