also irrelevant. @jarry stated an absolute equivalence, i provided a set of circumstances where his assertion (which as i have stated multiple times was unrestricted in environment) did not hold.
Given that the conversation leading up to @Jarry's comment was solely restricted to 2D objects, it seems reasonable to infer that his statement was restricted to such objects. Perhaps a better example for you to use would have been a circle winding a line around itself (such as a cross-section of a winding spool). That would have allowed you to remain within the same dimensionality, while still introducing similar issues as your new spool winding scenario.

Spiny and The Fox now both have pedantry s?

at first I thought @jarry was just trolling us with the 450°===90° thing.
then I thought maybe it was some kind of bizarrely mutilated penis ascii art.
now I don't know what I think, but am pretty sure that he had a star-shaped screw inserted into his prostate by a small woodland mammal.

damn, you go to a meeting and come back to this.
i was going to post a mathematical demonstration. but it is too much work.
i'll just say that i stand by @abarker 's point.
degrees are one-dimensional. and it's a dimension that wraps over itself.anyway, enjoy your

just checked. nope, no star-shaped screw.
are you talking from your own experience with woodland mammals?

foxes are not small..... not compared to hedgehogs anyway.

Irrelevant. There aren't turtles all the way down. Now,

good thing they have 18 different baking engines so they can easily keep them all synchronized and working consistently.

I reported that on meta.d some time ago.
I got the impression it's not going to be fixed any time soon…

It's not a feature related to conducting civilized discourse. It's probably toxic, too.

way to look like the preview does, dischorse.
Known issue. Reported by @RaceProUK months ago. Jeff has no interest in fixing.
Edit:
Second Edit: Guess it wasn't that long ago.
Edit C: Bumped at meta.d

wonders if either you or the fox read the raw…
I thought we all agreed that was an undue burden, to have to check the raw on every post.
-
I didn't get the memo
In any case, this is TDWTF, and Discourse, where things like "undue burden" include arguing with people with shoulder aliens trying to prove a point. Checking raw periodically is tame by comparison.

The trick is knowing which posts to check the raw on.

True but certain people are worse for it than others, and in a lot of cases it's guessable from context.

i swear every necro topic i find is @riking's doing. now its my turn to necro his necro.
also, i really like the new "X days later" bar, it makes it so much easier to spot necros.

What
-
As somebody that has been passively viewing WTF from the very early days - and in those days I did use it a resource for "how not to program" - pretty much in the same way I used annoyances to help with OS issues. I rarely strayed much beyond what are now known as Articles.
It is only because said Articles were becoming so much less of a WTF and a discussion of what was wrong, and more of platform for dissing every thing from the programming language to the use of white space. And the Comments were becoming more of a bitchfest and a place to have petty squabbles, (although, I must say that the wit and humour has increased and improved), I got involved.
I have since amused myself reading old articles and comments and, as such, they are "new" to me. And, I guess anybody else in a similar position. Admittedly some topics are truly dead, and not relevant at the time of viewing. But some aren't.
One of my pet peeves are forums that don't answer the question, or make buttumptions that provide totally the wrong answer. For reasons from not reading the question properly to the desire to exercise one's own soapbox. Perl Monks is the worst that I've come across so far, in that every request for help seems to attract an immediate first response along the lines of "Why would you want to do that" and "If you are asking this question, then you are coding it wrong" and it degenerates from there.
I am ambiguous about this new feature (which smacks of procrastination, in that it is something to do, thus avoiding what needs to be done). It can be useful (how much time needs to elapse for the topic to be considered dead?), there is the risk that it could be totally correct, whilst completely bloody useless. I am not sure about the size of it, thankfully it is smaller than I feared it would be, as infiniscroll has enough white space to scroll through as it is. (Another pet peeve: Websites that think they are only going to be viewed by thick fingered mobile users. Or make half butted attempts to detect and respond to the device / browser type, that sorta give up trying to do so when you delve in deep enough).
Oh. Yeah. Minor WTF: Trying to read old post that have HTML Tags in them.
...steps off of soapbox, folds it away and goes on with his life...

did you know that 450° === 90° ???
My rubber band powered model aircraft begs to differ.

Are you just going to necro this topic once a month forever?

until I find a better one

Time to start the "Official Necro Topic" ?

Going to necro this because I only read this now, but FYI: an Official Necro Topic is never started as such, it must be brought back through necromancy.
