Whats with all the notifications:
-
I got 6 notifications for @abarker moving things to the new Discopaedia-topic. None of the notifications link to any post I made. I didn't even post in that topic all that often. Is anybody else also getting that?
Filed Under: I don't feel like screencapturing right now. If you don't believe me, let me know!
Addendum: Okay, so I did some python to play around on my Pi... and now I automatically put a ":" at the title as that is what you would do in a python function... WTF, brain?

-
yes, he moved them. I was made aware.... But please read the part where I state that none of those posts are mine. Why does Discourse notify me about somebody elses post being moved?
Also, please don't answer the last question with some Disco-Definition. I actually want to know!Filed Under: I am really confused here

NO DUCKHORSE I DON'T WANT YOU TO ONEBOX THAT!

In true discourse fashion, the notifications don't point to where the posts were jeffed to, but rather where they were jeffed from (yes stupid). This is why none of the notifications link to any of your posts. They are telling you "Hey your posts got moved! Here's where they used to be!"
Your posts that used to be in the Discopædia are now in the Discopædia Meta. Yes, you have posts in there. Three of them, in fact.

I appreciate the effort but this still doesn't make sense:
I am getting 9 notifications:
clicking on the highlighted Entry:
I might be a lot of people, but I think @JazzyJosh is none of them. It's not just his posts, either it's random...
Addendum: You too, @abarker: notice the 9.... though I guess your explanation for the random links makes somewhat sense. Is meta informed about this?
-
Yeah, the notification links rarely if ever make sense; I wouldn't trust them to take you to the right post. As for why you got nine notifications… no freakin' idea
-
Some of the jeffing attempts took multiple tries to actually work. Based on other conversations I have had, it appears that some of those attempts generated notifications even though no posts were actually moved. Apparently, that is causing some of your confusion.
Even with that, though, you shouldn't have received 9 notifications. I blame Discourse for that.
-
I got the same stuff, but it didn't go to my posts when I click the moved links.

This is really bad because the post got moved, so who knows what is there now!

One thing I'm wondering; I noticed some site slowdown when you did a mass Jeffing. It may be coincidental, but I think that Jeffing that many posts may well be a(nother) cause of server cooties…
-
Possible. I tried to only do about 100 at a time, so it's not like I moved everything at once.
-
True, but most Jeffings are around a dozen posts or so, so…
-
-
Don't tempt me
-
Is meta informed about this?
I look forward to reading that bug report on meta: "We tried to jeff some posts, sometimes it took multiple jeffing attempts before they were actually jeffed, and then when users got jeff notifications about them, they linked to where the jeffed posts were jeffed from, not to where they were jeffed to!"
-
You gotta be able to reproduce it on try.d, though. Which you can't do because you can't jeff there, I think.
Filed Under: I actually never went there. Are there mod accounts for free use?

No. The cynic in me says not being able to move posts is a deliberate move regarding bugs reported, as you can't move them in the 2 instances Jeff says (when it suits) all bugs must be reproduced in.
-
but I think that Jeffing that many posts may well be a(nother) cause of server cooties…
Probably some job to recalculate some silly statistic which probably runs per post.
-
Sounds like a job for SCIENCE.
Quick, let's jeff some posts to /t/1000 and see what happens.
I'd volunteer this post, but as I've kept myself out of /t/1000 I'm pretty sure I can't even physically catch up wrt likes..

Yeah, the notification links rarely if ever make sense;
That really should communicate more info.
Moved post #1 on "foo" to #77 on "bar"

T-Rex
If he would be quite and stopped making funny noises when he's on the phone I would ignore him yes

Exactly!

That really should communicate more info.
Moved post #1 on "foo" to #77 on "bar"
or at least link to the correct location of the moved post via
/p/postId
as that always gets you to the post (if you have permission to view it still (to cover a case of multijeff

You just had to bring that up.

Yes.
Filed Under: @PJH, can we get a :dinosaur: / ?

I don't think it would be easily recognizable:

It's a sad world we live in. Maybe we can comission the original artist to create a emoji-friendly version.

No, it doesn't. That chicken probably uses a 7'' Phablet.

"Welcome, gentlemen, to Aperture Science. Astronauts, war heroes, Olympians--you're here because we want the best, and you are it. So: Who is ready to make some science?"

Stupid evolved chicken. Should have stayed as a t-rex.
-
So a T-Rex with a phablet becomes a chicken?
That clears the centuries old question:
What came first, the chicken or the phablet.

Birds are, after all, modern dinosaurs
A fact that is literally only ever relevant when trying to be a pedantic dickweed. Unless you're a biologist I guess, but even then it would mostly be the pedantry
