I've never said that we don't cause changes in the climate.
I think this needs to be discussed a little more
-
With an atmosphere I expect that fish to hit the ground first.
-
In one of the other threads (that I have muted), please.
Indeed, I think @fbmac started a topic expressly for this. He's welcome to find it and troll me there.
-
Anywhere is a good place to troll anyone on this forum.
Surprisingly on topic too!
-
There is no fun in discussing climate change in the right topic
-

https://what.thedailywtf.com/?state=mutedThat looks super-useful.
Thanks!

Does anybody else not bother with muting because they're unlikely to be mentioned in the threads in question and might want to know about it if they were?

there are some threads that i mute because i don't even want to be informed if i'm being talked about. (politics for example. i'm very alergic to political talk)
but mostly i set things to normal instead for just that rasin

I also find the tracking/watching difference very unintuitive. I'd think tracking was more active than watching, it implied following it not just looking to see what it's doing. Neither way round makes that much sense though, so I'd use different wording entirely.
Basically, the whole thing is Discointuitive

and goddess help you if you ever accidentally click that "dismiss Topics" button in
/unread
that makes discourse now and forever consider tracking=normal for those dismissed topics.

Add to it that the threads here drift a lot, one that starts as a political discussion can turn into climate change, then turn into otter pictures and end as a religious debate.

But you've dismissed the topics, that means you're done with them. Changing your mind is

Hey, I can't be held accountable for you not being Jeff

https://what.thedailywtf.com/?state=mutedIn true Discourse style, it shows you the Muted topics but if another one you have on Tracking or Watching gets a new post, it shows at the top of the topic list.

Because I haven't muted anything it says:
There are no latest topics. That's sad.
They could have thought of a better text there.
I recommend "There are no muted topics. You are weird."
Edit: and I see @ben_lubar d me for more than a month. That's sad.

Better?

I'm not sure who exactly you are referring to, but being weird is pretty much a prerequisite to participating on TDWTF, right?

Welcome to Discourse Muted Topics! As we noticed you haven't muted anything, we've put the entire site on mute for your enjoyment and convenience. Individual topics can be unmuted at your leisure, should you find any. Thank you for using Discourse, a product, and Merry Easter!
-
Also, if you type mm at any point, we'll go ahead and re-mute the topic without telling you.
-
type mm
There's a nice, discoverable keyboard shortcut. We've been using this Hundescheiße for what, a year and half, or so, and I didn't know that.
-
By the way, don't type ZZ.
-
Yeah, there are a bunch of shortcuts I've never paid attention to, including that one. I think the only ones I ever actually use are j, k, l and R. Oh, and Home and End.
-
-
Wow, I just tested pressing mm, and as I wasn't in the end of the topic I didn't even get a visual clue that the topic was muted.

You can see a bunch of 'em by hitting ?, you know. Or did you not know that? I certainly didn't until someone mentioned it.
-
By the way, don't type ZZ.
What....why...well that's just dumb.
I mean, I know where it comes from, but...ugh. That shortcut makes me want to look @wood up in the phone book and call him to yell at him.
Oh, just the one time, and just for a minute or two, but still.
-

Yes, I did. However, I've memorized the handful I actually use and ignore the others, so I almost never use the (well hidden) cheat sheet.
-
I was going to put this in the "other news thread" and ask you guys to identify the best category / thread for it. Then I stumbled across this one. Which I think is probably an optimistic starting point.
TL;DR Some people think that New Year should not be celebrated near Migrant Shelters for fear that the "sounds" may trigger flashback and trauma (Mid you, the "onebox" says it all in the first line anyway)
That aside, just how far away do these people think it has to be before it don't?
-
You're not supposed to use fireworks around domestic cats and dogs either. (I'm sure youtube will provide ample evidence as to why...)
-
Oh, so now you're saying that the refugees are haram dogs‽ RAAAAACIST
-
Are dogs racist?
-
I assume the white ones must be.
-
We try, but dammit the dogs try to get out!
Seriously, that's the toughest thing. Keeping the dogs away from the deadly fireball...
-
-
Wow, that's a... umm... necro-reply?

What does it do? (I refuse to use any Discourse shortcut, because it's my keyboard not theirs, and also 99% chance it will fuck up something I want to read)
-
-
because ZZ also quits vi.
This is one of the worst reasons for doing something a certain way that I have ever seen in my entire life.

Yes, that's why I wrote "well that's just dumb".

Yes, but I believe it cannot be overstated in this case.

Fair enough.

without I don't see the point
