a ω-mouth

So, you wouldn't draw a smile on a cartoon puppy?
As far as I'm aware, they're not traditionally given a ω-mouth
-
Also for cute factor.
-
OK, I have this now: cats have whiskers, dogs don't
And our avatars have whiskers, and are therefore ickle kitties

Have you ever seen a dog in person? Or are you basing all these "facts" on distance observation?
-

Sonic cartoons, presumably.
-
So these are cats?
both of those ears are trapezoidal, not triangular.

Look, cats are cool to watch on TV or whatever, whereas dogs can also be cool to be around in person.
-
-
Also, wolfs are closely related to dogs. They are all canines.
Although Konrad Lorentz claims that only some dogs and only to some extent originate from canis lupus, and that most dogs have a majority of canis aureus (jackal) in their lineage.
Not his dogs, of course, and the value of what an austrian zoologist said in the middle of last century may of course have been outdated by modern genealogy...

Why would you want to wrap a dog around your person?

Was thinking more bonzai-puppy, but I guess your thing works, too.

The traditional way to win is to be correct ;)
-
be correct or shout that you are correct until everyone else gets frustrated and walks away?
-
That's the slightly less traditional way. Result's the same, I guess.
-
If I'm wrong, then I'm wrong; no point worrying about it, just accept, learn, and carry on
-
Result's the same, I guess.
one has a higher probability of having friends come the end of it though.
-
And that is why I learned early on to not be afraid to be wrong ;)

But do you now understand what a dog is? That's the important lesson here.

This concept intrigues me...
Step ye firste: Get a Lyfe
sorry, bad joke... couldn't resist.
-
-
i thought it was some kind of plant myself.

Lyfe
Part of me thinks that's a company that grows bananas; while trying to confirm or deny that, I found this image:
No idea what's going on, but it made me laugh

Also, wolfs are closely related to dogs. They are all canines.
They're the same species. Canis Lupus Lupus and Canis Lupus Familiaris. It's true that wolves are not dogs, but strictly speaking, domestic dogs are wolves.
And for what it's worth, things that are less closely related to domestic dogs than wolves are, are described as dogs.
Um... have some cute:

echidna
Those things... they are cool, don't get me wrong, but they creep me out a bit.
You're a mammal, stop laying eggs!
I have also liked every post with dogs in it because this catism on the Internet simply has to stop!

Probably aren't too found of the platypus either, are you?
That is one weird mammal.

Hear, hear!

Bites Onyx's ankles
Case in point, ladies, gentlemen, others, and anthropomorphic creatures of all kinds! Cat oppressors strike again!
Probably aren't too found of the platypus either, are you?
Fucking thing has a beak, too! Well, not really a beak, but close enough. Also, poisonous! Begone, abomination!
I'd still like to keep one at home, if it was doable, because that's some cool shit!
-
Also, poisonous!
Venomous, I think you'll find. I've never heard that platypus is harmful to eat.
-
Venomous, I think you'll find.
Quite. ESL, dealing with 1 => n mapping if words can be confusing at times.
-
Dammit I was trying to be dickweedish about it. What does it take to get one of those badges?
-
People who are stubborn about not admitting their mistakes? Isn't that right, @tar?
Also, I have no idea. I did try a few times and no one even commented on it, let alone flagged me. I'm just not built for that stuff I guess.
Edit: Also, pointing up my gramming might've helped. I didn't edit it out yet (and my history is public anyway)

@abarker and @HardwareGeek keep the pedantry standards pretty high.

This post crashes my browser (Chrome on Android 5). I can scroll above and below just fine, but as soon as the toucans appear on screen, "Aw snap!".
-
Dammit I was trying to be dickweedish about it. What does it take to get one of those badges?
You were being pedantic, but without the requisite dickweedish aspect. You were actually rather polite, which is saying a lot for a cat person. If you really want a pendant, it helps to throw in some backhanded remarks, while demonstrating your clearly superior intelligence, which shouldn't be too difficult for a dog person such as myself.
If you are going to be polite about your pedantry, your chances of gaining any pedantry badges are infinitesimal, oh feline minded one.
-
Yawning rabbit. There's a particularly deadly kung fu move of the same name.
are you doing in here? You are too old and crotchety for this thread...

He's probably making sure the cute things stay off his lawn.
-
People who are stubborn about not admitting their mistakes? Isn't that right, @tar?
It's probably incorrect. Wait, what were we talking about again?
-
What does it take to get one of those badges?
FWIW, I got a spellar when my sole contribution to an entire topic was to correct a common spelling mistake.
-
@abarker and @HardwareGeek keep the pedantry standards pretty high.
I do my best, but I've been denied flags for not being dickweedy enough.
no one even commented on it, let alone flagged me
It's possible to be flagged without knowing it. There is no notification to you that you've been flagged for "Something Else." The only way you know is if the flagger tells you that it flagged you, or a mod tells you, which doesn't usually happen unless you get enough flags for a badge. I know I've flagged people without commenting (except to the mods in the flag message, of course).Filed under: Chrome speelchuck thinks flagger should be flogger. Would you like to be flogged for pedantry?
Chickened-out with a safe link.
-
It's possible to be flagged without knowing it.
Now that I think about it, this was before the flags category. I just got used to discussing flags lately I probably projected that expectation backwards.
Would you like to be flogged for pedantry?
Maybe. Who's doing the flogging?
