Discourse Metabooty

Continuing the discussion from Discourse 1.2 is coming. Brace yourselves.:
Ok the $150 was transferred to @boomzilla for whatever purposes you guys deem worthy -- let the games begin!
Alright, seriously, guys. I have $150 in paypal account from @codinghorror meant to reward us for our beta testing, etc. What should we do with it? Some previous suggestions:
- Amazon gift cards to top Meta.d participants from TDWTF
- $150 of purple dildos to @blakeyrat
- Donate the money to some cause / project / organization
- @boomzilla retires to Bolivia
- PAYPAL_NOT_FOUND
-
Why is this not a poll? Why is this not in the lounge?
You could also donate the money to TDWTF server farm or on some OSS project or the EFF.
-
Why is this not a poll?
I didn't really want to limit the options to the things suggested there.
Why is this not in the lounge?
I think this should get wider exposure than that (though probably the people most likely to get something from this are TL3+).
You could also donate the money to TDWTF server farm or on some OSS project or the EFF.
Also a legit suggestion.
-
Donate it to the WTForum project
-
-
$150 of purple dildos to @blakeyrat
This
In all seriousness though, it makes sense to either use it to fund TDWTF servers, or donate it to a suitable charity or organisation. The EFF springs immediately to mind.

I think some of the money should go to @Matches for his expenses on http://discoursebugs.com.
I also believe that the money should either be used for something fun or be used beneficial to the whole comunity. Splitting it up between the top reporters at meta.d doesn't seem right. I mean, all of us found lots of bugs. And all of us had to "suffer" through them. So meh...
Filed Under: Use the money to bribe @apapadimoulis to make a front-page series about Discourse-bugs
^ the more I think about it the more I realize: I really like this idea...^

Buy some Bad Code Offsets in Jeff's name?
-
-
Also, are you the first name on http://codeoffsets.com/Members.aspx?
Same first name, but not me.
Polish last names are all noise ending with -ski, though, so I understand the confusion.
-
Maybe we could pay @eviltrout $150 to adapt the tagging plugin for us.
-
You just want to
breakimprove the site aren't you?Filed Under: I will keep tagging into nothingness like this
-
Place it in the reward pool for the next person to find a serious Discourse vulnerability. Like the next XSS rotating image thing. That level.
Or split it between the people who found the previous bugs. They deserve it the most.
-
The tagging plugin is included in Discourse 1.2 so it is available to everyone, once that releases.
I still like the idea of you guys secret santa-ing each other for the top 6 people who actually filed bugs on meta.d in a constructive way. And definitely include @matches who went out of his way to register a domain and everything.

Yeah, this gets my vote.

Not that I want to help you idiots, but:
$150 of purple dildos to @blakeyrat
If you spent $150 of Atwood's money on something I just throw directly in the trash, I would consider that the Crown of Ultimate Trolling.

So you don't like purple ?

I'd make a "that's racist" joke but my mother's maiden name actually does end in -ski.

Hmm. What would be sending you something you would actually find useful, that was bought with Atwood's money, then?

Based on the amount of time he spends here despite claiming to hate every single moment, I'd say he craves disappointment. How many copies of Superman 64 can you get for $150?

Racist jokes may be uncouth, but we laugh because they're based on truth. Doesn't mean they're personal attaaaacks...

I've been playing Sonic 2006.
BRING IT ON.
(But include a N-64 too, because I don't own one.)

Seriously? O_oLooks like it might require a container definition change, but here's what it looks like right now:
-
I don't want your money. I want your software to stop sucking.
-
You can do better than that...
"If I wanted a product that sucks for 150$ I would buy Roomba"
-
If you wanted a Roomba that sucks you'd spend more than $150
-
-
-
I can get second hand roomba to suck quite easily for $150

I have a secret "Creed" folder just for this occasion.

Go home, Onebox. You're drunk.
-
That doesn't play on mobile. I rest my case.
And this.
Notice the lack of the reply button

In the famous words of stack overflow, try it and find out? I have a physical device and my computer is stashed for the night
-
I doubt $150 would get you that ...
-
Looks like it might require a container definition change, but here's what it looks like right now:
I've got it installed on my instance - between me and @keith we filed a few bug reports on it.
-
Splitting it up between the top reporters at meta.d doesn't seem right. I mean, all of us found lots of bugs. And all of us had to "suffer" through them. So meh...
However, some people went the extra mile and suffered through participating at meta.d. Maybe I'll head over there and compile some stats on TDWTFers over there...

Want some SQL?
-
compile some stats
I went over to meta.d and looked up the TDWTFers I could remember / find. It's possible I forgot or missed someone. I included @PJH for reference (he got a separate piece of WTFgeld from Jeff). Sorted descending by Topics+Posts:
Pasted as an image for easy alignment, view raw to get raw data.
EDIT: added @Maciejasjmj
-
I actually opened 2 topics? Huh.
Someone get shadowmod loose on meta.d, we might get more contributors :P
