that makes me feel a bit better.
You could prove your magic powers on that post, Archwarlock.
-
Yeah, but that's usually with wiki-izing. Editing a wikified post usually doesn't have a problem. I usually only have trouble on edits when there's a race with another user.
-
It could just be my untelligence. I am sure the bottle port earlier didn't help it either.

Or the DiscoDevs could have completely Belgiumed the wiki feature. I wouldn't put that past them.
-
-
So we're in for 541 days of negotiations before anything starts working. Awesome.

Good news! I can confirm that wiki issues you reported the other day are a new bug!
I've been getting notifications that @boomzilla edited the OP in the Discopædia, only to see no actual changes. It took three tries (based on the notifications) for his changes to take effect. Then I tried to make a change this morning, and I had to make the changes twice before they stuck.
My theory about the DiscoDevs Belgiuming the wiki feature was right!

I went to make sure my last two entries were there. I saw one but not the other. Though the last one (discoshock) was in the source. I added a newline after the ending quote tag (there wasn't one) and it all showed up.
What discourse thinks happened is anyone's guess.
-
The weird thing is, Discosearch said discoshock was in the OP, even though the text wasn't visible. It's almost like the raw post had it, but a re-bake didn't occur until you added the newline. If that's the case, I wonder if there are any potential search exploits ...

Yep, I was getting that, too.
-
You now need to enter a reason for the edit for the edit to show. I think. I got it to show eventually.
-
Something else is going on. See:
-
I see that you did eventually get your edit to be acknowledged by the server. I didn't get any sort of notification, so I only now discovered that my knighthood was granted. I humbly thank you, Lady @royal_poet.
-
Apparently not--once I signed in it said the wish list was empty.
Sorry FrostCat, missed that comment earlier.this link will work: at least according to incognito mode: http://secure.newegg.com/WishList/PublicWishDetail.aspx?WishListNumber=31437487

I hereby apply to be inducted into the ranks of the Knights of WTF, with the title of 'Lord Knight @RaceProUK of the Ancient Study of Furries and Anthros'
-
@accalia, in her first post from mobile ever, approves of this application.
Will any join their voice with her?
-
I don't have a smart phone.
-
i'll call that close enough.

I JOIN my voice ON applicant = "@RaceProUK".
Sorry it took me so long, I didn't find my mobile :/
-
-
no spellar flag for you. go pick on someone who doesn't have "spelling tourettes" ;-)
-
Nah, I'm just laughing because I used that command a couple of days ago, I use it about once a decade.
-
I use it about once a decade.
it';s about once a week for me...
$> sudo passwd some_account_i_use_frequently_but_never_remember_the_password_to
-
welcome:
And it's too long for the long name field...
...although it might actually be funnier like that!
-
Welcome to our ranks, Lord Knight!
-
And it's too long for the long name field...
hmm... that reminds me of something i need to try....
-
-
nah. i wouldn't bother.
it's probably too late to do anything about it anyway.
-
Lord Knight @RaceProUK of the Ancient Study of Furries and Anthros
I'm just going to point out to @RaceProUK that if you don't want "of the Ancient Stud..." to appear on posts, you might reconsider the wording.
Hijacking @accalia's post because it has the words.
Edit: hanzo'd, but I'd noticed it in the other thread, earlier.
-

$> sudo passwd some_account_i_use_frequently_but_never_remember_the_password_to
Back in the day, if you ran passwd enough times it would ignore account restrictions. that's how I wound up with "d" (sans quotes) as my password in college for a while.
-
i had \n as my password for the same reason, RHEL never fully patched that (although you do have to turn off a setting that prevents the fallback restriction being lifted.
-
I hope that was actually slash-en, and not a newline. (I wonder how you get a control character in a password? Back in grade school, a friend and I discovered you could do that with file names on the Apple II, and lost the beginnings of a game when we saved the file as tic^ttac^otoe^m.
-
it was a literal new line character.
and i got it by hitting enter for the password prompt on the command line.
of course it meant i couldn't log in via X11 because it didn't understand how to manage that, but via SSH or alt-f1 to terminal it worked fine.
-
LOL--that's funny. It shouldn't have done that--your password should have been empty.
-
technically it was... i just like saying it was the carriage return character.
-

That's\r
.\n
is line feed.
-
;-)
-
And I fixed my long name
-
a belated welcome to:
-
Wasn't he there about 3 lines up from where he's been added? ;)
-
heck if i know.
he PM'd me asking to be added so i found his post and added him.
what, you expected me to do research on who has titles and who doesn't? ;-)
-
he PM'd me asking to be added so i found his post and added him.
Objection! That is not how the Order of The Knights of WTF accepts new members! Requests for admission should be made in the topic, for all members to see! We are not an order of secrets.
Also:
Wasn't he there about 3 lines up from where he's been added?
Indeed. As such, I petition that @Xander be stripped of his new title. All in favor?
-
i'll second that. but @XanderTheGamer should be able to keep his original one. ;-)
-
Well I did say:
I petition that @Xander be stripped of his new title.
Where'd you get the idea I wanted to take away both of his titles?
-
Where'd you get the idea I wanted to take away both of his titles?
i didn't,. but thought better safe than sorry. ;-)
-
I guess
sudo
doesn't require your password then? ;)
-
It wouldn't even need resetting if @accalia used
[code]sudo -i some_account_i_use_frequently_but_never_remember_the_password_to[/code]
-
I guess sudo doesn't require your password then
it requires my password, not the account i'm trying to sudo to
It wouldn't even need resetting if @accalia used
i always forget that argument to sudo.....
-
of course it meant i couldn't log in via X11 because it didn't understand how to manage that, but via SSH or alt-f1 to terminal it worked fine.
When the GNU people were still living in the MIT Media Lab, they used to have a hacked version of the X login screen that displayed your logon and password. For some reason lots of people logged in as rms instead of themselves. I did it myself a few times (but didn't do anything untoward with that power.)

@Polygeekery nominates @blakeyrat for a second title, @loopback0 agrees, but it seems it's up to me to request that @blakeyrat be granted the title of Lord Knight of the Ever-Moving Goalposts
