@BernieTheBernie then it'll be even easier to figure out

@loopback0 But what when the change is abolished?
We’ll be basking in a world free of hunger and cancer, with fusion power and infinite resources meaning we don’t have to work while AI keeps us supplied to live in luxury.

Then it will still be at 09:00 UTC.
Simple enough.

New proposal!
Instead of UTC, let's all use UTC.
While UTC stands for "Coordinated Universal Time," UTC instead stands for "Universal Constant Time."
Right from the start you can see it's better as, while we keep the same short name for backwards (???) compatibility, the new name at least has 1 letter that matches the meaning whereas the old one has none.
But the true greatness of UTC is what it really means. It is, as the name says, "constant." Meaning that it does not change. Ever. Anywhere. On Earth or anywhere else.
So it is always 9:00 UTC. Everywhere. All the time. Or 17:00 UTC if you want to have a drink, it's the same. Or anything, really. The number doesn't matter, just the fact that it never changes.
No more time conversions since the time is the same everywhere. No more complicated duration computations since the time is the same all the time so every duration is always 0.
That's it, problem solved!

Agreed, but at least define UTC as beer o'clock, instead of as 9:00 UTC.
-
@nerd4sale no problem with that, the beauty of UTC being that it can be any value.
#define BEER_O_CLOCK "9:00"
-
@remi My vote is for UTC 7:00, since I get up at 8

Now whenever you wake you always wake up early.
And the bosses will like it too. They'll make you sign a contract that locks you on 10am UTC, so you can't go home without breaking the contract.

@BernieTheBernie I'm pretty sure we developed it before you did. The Czech term is "pičo kurva co to je?!"

That's a more generic term though. In fact it's fairly appropriate translation of “what the fuck‽”.

@blek What kind of railway security is that? No railway crossing gate there? Not even a traffic light?
-
@BernieTheBernie Plenty of those in West Chukotka, too
Works just fine (save for one or a few "hoodies" with earmuffs, but no great loss to society overall).
-
@BernieTheBernie You've never been to Brno, have you?

It is not a crossing, it is a station with absolutely crappily designed platforms that are just marked on the ground rather than elevated like any decent station should have. And the guy was running from the second platform, where the train normally stops, to the first platform, where it was announced to arrive instead at the last minute.

Huh. I have been to Brno, but didn't see anything like that. Maybe I was just in a different part of the city...
-
@dkf Because neither is a regular service, but rather they were special events, as part of the international industrial fair.

Still no flying cars, though.

The person who made the video also risks being fine for stopping their vehicle in the middle of the road for no good reason.
Watching this happening IS a good reason

Well, I hope so for their sake.
