dangerous side of the hot/crazy axis.
Trigger warning for @Fox. The T-Word comes up at the end.

Also, something to fuel Republicans' nightmares:
You mean like...a picture of Donald Trump composited from a bunch of dick pics?

From @anotherusername's kitchen:

Ah - missed it. (Clearly...)

The non-fastfood version of chicken piri piri should look like this:

In 1986 oporto founder Antonio Cerqueria opened a chicken shop in North Bondi serving flame grilled Portuguese style chicken with an original Portuguese chilli sauce... and this is where our story begins.
Ok, two things:
-
Antonio Cerqueria is a typo. I can excuse the missing accent in António, but the last name should be Cerqueira, not Cerqueria. The guy's your founder, you should get his name right;
-
"an original Portuguese chilli sauce"... Goes well with the typically Portuguese Mexican spice rice, and seasoned avocado, I guess.
Oh, and if you're going to have a restaurant chain called Oporto, you've got to put this on the menu (the meats aren't important, the sauce is):https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Francesinha
@Luhmann is right. Francesinhas aren't that great, even when done well (which is not that frequent).
-
-

no you don't ... stop bragging about shitty food when there is plenty of good stuff around
a returned emigrant from France and Belgium
Crap! And now we are even blamed for this brick.
-
Fun fact: the second largest city in Portugal, known internationally as Oporto, is called Porto locally. "O" is a definite article.
So to us hearing it being called Oporto is a bit like hearing Thelondon, Laparis or Dasdüsseldorf.
Nothing wrong with that. Just trivia for ya.
-
To strike or not to strike. That is Discourse:
Okay, Discourse didn't toast me, but I'm self-conscious and I'm going to lay off the thread for now.
-
is called Porto locally
Hmm ... I've always called it Porto ... like the beverage.
Francesinhas aren't that great
Tried it once ... never again ...
But I'll take that Arroz de marisco ...
-
-
Dasdüsseldorf
City names don't have an article in German, unless you attribute an adjective to the city (e.g. "das schöne Düsseldorf") or are talking about a historical period of the city (e.g. "das Düsseldorf der 20er Jahre"). So "das Düsseldorf", by itself, is grammatically incorrect.

Or Thelos Angeles, or Theel Paso, or Thedes Moines....

What's going on this time, Discourse?
This thread currently has 6754 posts according to the bluebar. The URL to the latest post is .../2628/6900 because of deleted posts.
And yet I've got an undismissable notification saying there are two new replies and pointing me to .../2628/6903.
Did someone whisper or something?
Edit: this post is .../6901

Well...

Jeffings?

Wouldn't that leave a trace?

I think the time has come.

Wouldn't that leave a trace?
Yes, yes, of course, of course. It leaves a trace. Note the timestamps:

Has anyone pointed out that this feature is almost completely indiscoverable yet?

irrelevant fact: i knew a girl whose name is Lala Paz

I have no idea how to do that still :D
-
Ah, found it!

We've not really played with it.

This post is deleted!

Who ya gonna call...?

People will probably kill me for posting a buzzfeed link here, but this is hilarious for everyone familiar with German tv.
"79 Thoughts Two Idiot Americans Had During This Week’s Episode Of Tatort"

It might be funny if I had watched the original in the first place.

I thought we'd turned whispers off.
-
I'm German, too!
I have yet to watch this one (I watched most of the other Faber episodes), but I have it on my DVR.

It was like reading a transcript of one of blakey's video game movies that he posts. Except about a German TV show and because the interface of his TV sucks he couldn't get the subtitles to play.
-
Is that still playing? I remember they played it on Belgian TV like in the 80ties or something. They probably got it in a package deal with Derek.
It looks like the intro is still the same as well.
-
It looks like the intro is still the same as well.
Yeah, they like keeping the intro retro-style.
Is that still playing?
I think it'll never stop playing. People still like and watch it, it's become a German tradition. The fact that it's basically a franchise, not one consistent story, makes continuing it really easy: Just invent new characters and start a new story line once one of the old ones gets boring. You don't even have to worry about continuity, it's always been a collection of unrelated story lines.
-

that might be why it seemed so chaotic to me

Just follow the story lines you like, it's what everyone does. And, of course, don't forget to have heated discussions with your relatives and neighbors about which ones are good and which ones aren't. ;)

This line made me laugh out loud due to the incongruity:
“The decision to allow women in the cavalry was forced upon us,” said Maj. Gen. Michael A. Bills, 1st Cavalry Division Commander. “We’ll support the decision to move women into combat roles, but only if they can ride their tanks side saddle.”

What about green olives?

And how do Mercedes-Benz symbols get in there?

It's actually a pimento, I think.
