It has a bunch of 4chan inside jokes, but I think it's entertaining for everyone.

Now I just want to watch Downfall again.

Downfall
Is that really the English name? Why didn't they just call it "Der Untergang" everywhere?
-
I can never remember whether it's Undergang or Untergant or what. So Downfall it is.
-
Now I just want to watch Downfall again.
I KNOW RITE?
I hate that that excellent film has become meme-central. Ugh.
-

According to Google, that translates to Downfall. So. Uh. They did?
If it makes you feel better, Das Boot is still called Das Boot in English. But in English, "boat" doesn't at all imply "submarine", so.
-
But in English, "boat" doesn't at all imply "submarine", so.
True. Unless you're in the U.S. Navy, on a submarine, which is routinely called a boat. They even have a position called Chief of the Boat that is usually held by the most senior enlisted person.

No, but a submarine is a boat:
https://www.quora.com/Why-is-a-submarine-called-a-boat-and-not-a-ship
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Submarine "For reasons of naval tradition, submarines are usually referred to as "boats" rather than as "ships", regardless of their size."

Why didn't they just call it "Der Untergang" everywhere?
The same reason the rest of the world translates "Mein lieben Führer" to "Adolf Hitler" - because not everyone understands German.
-
If I was in the right lane (whichever direction) just before the intersection, I'd probably just turn right - no matter how long the detour, it can't be worse than waiting for this to clear.
Also I love the van in top-left part standing in the opposite lane - so desperate to even go the wrong way and still being stuck.
-
because not everyone understands German
But as @blakeyrat mentioned - why didn't they change the name of "Das Boot" outside of Germany?

Poland had it called both ways:
-
That's just because it was cheaper than making your own poster.
-
Hey, we're good at posters! Well, were. And sort of.
That's Blade Runner, by the way, if the imagery hasn't been obvious enough.
And that's Alien.
-
For some reason, our corridors used to be littered with old (early 1990's) posters from the Warsaw film festival. They were quite nice in a bizarre kind of way.

Also Known As (AKA)
[.. omitted 32 titles not equal to "Das Boot" ..]
USA: Das Boot
USA (dubbed version): The Boat
-
Das Boot
Also, "Das Boot" paired with a picture of the boat is pretty much self-explanatory. "Der Untergang" way less so.
That's coming from someone who
knowsstudied German.

I absolutely love how many cars are in the "Don't stop here" zones.
Every last one of those idiots that is somewhere they shouldn't be should get a fine. Which will be pretty funny to everyone else. ;)

They'll be easy to fine considering it looks like they'll be sat there forever.

I watch all my movies with subs matching the audio language if I know the language1.
If I don't - it depends, if a dub is pretty good and I don't know shit in the original language, it's better to just grab dub. Subtitles not matching what I hear causes my brain to overheat.1 Thankfully that makes the percentage of movies worth watching that I can't watch in the original language quite small.

Why would you do that?
You know Indian?

I highlighted the relevant part of the post for you.
-
A bit more seriously, I hate indy (not Indian) films with Deep Meaning™ and most of the mainstream I consider enjoyable is produced in USA, UK or Russia. As I speak American, English, and Russian, that accounts for most of the movies.
If you read more carefully, I allowed for a small percentage of movies not in these languages being worth watching.I've actually seen one Indian horror film I liked a lot.
-

No, but a submarine is a boat:
Riiight?
Did you people think I didn't know that? Or, just being pedantic dickweeds for absolutely no reason? Or?
(I never said submarines weren't called boats, I said saying the word "boat" in English doesn't imply submarine. Which is true.)
But as @blakeyrat mentioned - why didn't they change the name of "Das Boot" outside of Germany?
Maybe so it wasn't confused with the earlier Buster Keaton movie The Boat. Buster Keaton is the best.
BTW guyz did you know submarines are called boats no matter how big they are? it's really great trivia that's so rarely known it's like a super-mystery

You know Indian?
"Indian" is not a language. Hindi is spoken widely, but most of the movies (at least the crappy ones posted to YT) seem to be produced in Telugu or one of the other regional languages. (And most aren't worth the effort for anyone to have created subtitles.)
Paging @nagesh
Now you've done it.

Buster Keaton is the best.

Did it feature Girly Man?

Or, just being pedantic dickweeds for absolutely no reason?
Did you forget what forum you're on?
-
Did you people think I didn't know that?
I assume that you know absolutely nothing whatsoever beyond what you say at any given moment.
Not that it matters much because you're going to do your little temper tantrum regardless of what anyone else says. I like to just set 'em off so as to get 'em out of the way. It's kind of like a firebreak.

Submarines were called u-boat in some old videogame i played iirc
Thank you. That adds a lot to the discussion.

Okay, now I'm curious, how did @fbmac get this invitation from @blakeyrat?
Or am I not reading this correctly?

BACON-scented underwear
If those can repel radical Muslims, you might've just found magic underwear that actually do something.
