That means that no one in the UI team ever thought about what happens when the backend has a hiccup for even mere seconds. Hell, even my own "try-to-reconnect" schemes have a step-down scheme with jitter just to make sure that the server isn't hammered by reconnect attempts all at the same time. And my servers have a user base count in the low 4 digits.

Not sure why auto carrot decided to convert "a bit". Into "white" but I suppose it's just privilege.

So we have an interim ranking for sensible architecture, from best to worst, that’s currently:
- @Rhywden. Users: ~1000
- @Tsaukpaetra: Users: 4 peak
- All of twitter. Users: millions
Any further contenders?

I think it merely nihilists the idea that the fewer users you have, the more efficient the systems appear to be.

Feels right there. That's why I wait two minutes before responding, for this exact style of shit!

Pinocchio had no mothers, Dumbo's mother didn't die, Fantasia didn't have any mothers either, neither did Alice in Wonderland, Lady and the Tranmp and One Hundred and One Dalmatians didn't have problems with mothers either, Aristocats neither. Then there was Robin Hood, The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, The Black Cauldron, The Great Mouse Detective, The Little Mermaid, The Lion King, Hercules, Mulan, The Emperor's New Groove, Treasure Planet, Tangled, Zootopia, Moana, Encanto.
Pixar: Red, Luca, The Toy Stories, Coco, Cars, Moster Inc., Wall-E, Ratatouille, The Incredibles, Lightyear
There are probably others I forgot. Please note: I listed all movies where the mothers are either alive for the whole movie or do not play any role at all / are not mentioned once.
Technically I could also list such movies as The Black Hole...

The Little Mermaid
Wait, who was Ariel's mother? I could have sworn she died....?
Edit:
@Rhywden said in The Official Funny Stuff Thread™:do not play any role at all / are not mentioned once.
Ah, well that's a kicker, isn't it? Not play role / not mentioned once doesn't mean "killed" I suppose...

Yeah, but except for all the movies where it's not true, it's true for all the others!

Exactly. I stand corrected I guess. But also like most of the good disney movies they kill the mother. How do you know if I consider it good? Check previous point. Although lion king I guess they kill the father instead.

Disney just really hopes you grow up with a fear of losing parents, I guess. Anyways, funny!

I remember this coming up when Finding Nemo came out. Nemo, unusually for the era, featured the main character's father rather than his mother because clownfish change sex after giving birth.

@TimeBandit That would be a difficult feature to implement. There would have to be a way to distinguish between the fake receipt and the actual receipt.

No, absolutely simple.
We can savely assume that the amount to be shown is smaller than the actual price. Create receipt #1 with that number, stating the turntable as the item purchased.
Then create receipt #2 with the remaining costs, stating whatever services, and the buyer won't show that to his wife, but the seller can show it to tax authorities.
Everything is fine.
-
@BernieTheBernie Everything is fine until the item requires warranty process, in which case the money refunded or the value of the replacement will fall within the amount seen on the receipt #1. Services rendered are not subject to warranty nor related to the original purchase ( Consumer Protection Authority can rule purchases on separate receipts close in time refundable when items are specific, for example, ink cartridge that fits only the printer sold).
-
It's simple; any receipt that includes a charge for a fake receipt is a fake.

I strongly suspect the tax man has Opinions on that.
-
@Applied-Mediocrity That second invoice is then e.g. fot the special audiophile diamond for the cartridge of the turntable. That's worth a fortune, isn't it?
