Maybe it just takes more than one day a year worth of driving to encounter the problem.
-
From what I've been told, removing the catalytic converter improves performance — were it not for the O2 sensors at either end then giving dud results that throw off the car's management of the fuel/air mix (the oxygen level and how much it changes acts a proxy for gauging what exhaust products are coming down the pipe and how well they're burning in the cylinder).

@Carnage that's really not a very large bear.
-
@Gribnit For a black bear it is big (for a brown/grizzly bear it would be normal).
-
@Bulb And do not forget that a bear is naturally entitled to bear arms!
-
@BernieTheBernie I've never met a bear wearing long sleeves. I think pretty much all of them bare arms.

I'm not sure Paddington would agree.

@jinpa Fair enough. But I've never met Paddington, so what I said still holds.

Well of course. Here in the U.S. you have a constitutional right to bare arms.

Once you go past 8 strings it's hard to say.
It turns out that the 18 & 20 string guitars you posted are the same guy and the 18 was the basis for the 17 that I posted:
When ZZ Top’s Elwood Francis pulled out a bright-yellow 17-string bass during their November 5 gig in Huntsville, Alabama, the guitar world went nuts.
After catching wind of Francis playing the bass, Jared Dines took to social media to note its similarities with his Ormsby 18-string guitar, which he commissioned back in 2018.
Shortly thereafter, Francis posted a response on Instagram, confirming that the 17-string was, indeed, a derivative of Dines’ Ormsby 18-string.
“I thought I’d use this bass once or twice for no other reason than amusement, laugh and then move on to something else", Francis wrote. “It’s such a strikingly absurd instrument.
“However, it’s gotten too much attention to not talk about the guy that actually came up with the idea: Jared Dines. The cat’s an amazing musician and I’d suggest checking him out just to see what he does with it. I just hope he has a sense of humor.”
Appreciative of the shoutout, Dines was quick to dispel any rumors of beef between them, commenting on Francis’s post: “I thought the picture of you playing it was photoshopped at first. I love that it’s real! Guitars are modified and remade all the time, I’m glad you had fun with it.”
Francis responded: “Dude, I cannot believe you play these things! We thought it was a joke but then found out about you and watched some videos. Bravo motherfucker!
After unveiling his 18-string Ormsby in 2018, Jared Dines upped the ante in 2021 with a fully functional 20-string Mountain Dew-themed meme guitar.

@HardwareGeek The Chinese guzheng (古筝) traditionally has 21 strings, but some have been made with 25 or 26.
This, presumably, makes up for the mere two strings of the erhu (二胡), a bowed instrument in which (because the Chinese just had to be different) the bow passes between the strings, thereby bowing one string from in front and the other from behind at the same time.

I thought they all were; at least they all were results of an image search for Jared Dines, even the other guy. (No, I didn't look that closely at their faces.)

Someone needs to come up with an 88 string guitar.
Or even 89, just to flip pianos a finger.
-
@Zecc I hate to spoil it before you built one, but pianos generally have 2 or 3 strings per key.

And here is Mr. Elwood Francis 11 years ago, when he was a roadie for ZZ Top.

I'm trying to start a rumor that he killed the original bass player so he could get the job.

They all are - imagine the strain on the neck if they weren't.

Depends on which string. Higher pitch strings are doubled or even trebled but the low pitch strings don't need it.
-
@PleegWat, @dkf I know this, but I was thinking more in terms of individually playable notes.
But it has occurred to me, since, that individual strings do not correspond to individual notes in guitars either.

- it weebs one string from the front, and weebs the other from beweeb.
