@Vixen OK, Scooby-Doo and the Ghostbusters are obvious, but what's the one in the middle? Looks like just some black car to me...

This was my interpretation as well, and it seems to fit with the theme.

@Vixen in the season 5 finale Swan Song Chuck narrates about the importance of the Impala.

I was going to post that too. But wanted to come up with 40s/50s (well, actually, I'm still in 50s). But ...

I'm pretty sure central Italy gets occasional snow as well.

Being incorporeal, they wouldn't need to clear out rooms for new guests. The ghosts could take the same space without getting in the other ghosts'/guests' way.
That must be a really slow dating scene.
They must all be extremely focused.

But are they incorporeal only compared to our frame of reference? Sort of like they're on a different frequency, so we don't normally see them? Maybe they interfere with each other, though?

Like the angels and post-death believers and God in C. S. Lewis's The Great Divorce?
Or his descriptive analogy of our brains being like a radio set for our "minds"/"souls"?

An attacking creature with shadow can only be blocked by a defending creature with shadow, and a defending creature with shadow can only block an attacking creature with shadow.

What is the wavelength of a ghost anyway? I'm imagining doing some sort of interference experiment with supernatural beings, where we will be attempting to find an arrangement of holy books such that manifestations only occur in some places and not others. Would the holographic principle even apply to spectres?

Not sure. Robert Munroe (Journeys Out of the Body) found that electric current would prevent him from going through objects he would normally be able to go through while on an astral projection. He hypothesized that this could be the basis of a ghost trap.
